South African police disarming citizens as their need for protection grows
Gun Rights Examiner ^ | 12 April, 2010 | David Codrea

Things are going from bad to worse over in "The Beloved Country." Hatred is being inflamed. A white separatists leader has been murdered. And Al Qaeda is threatening to stir things up even more at the upcoming summer World Cup games.

So just to make sure that if things really get bad, and they'll be absolutely powerless to protect much more than themselves, South African police are telling citizens to hand in their "unlicensed" guns--or else.

Warrant Officer Dumile Gwavu said anyone who handed in illegal firearms at any police station before the end of the week would not face prosecution, but those who did not would face the full might of the law. “Anyone who has an unwanted legal firearm can also hand it over to the police for destruction.”

What they're talking about, for the most part, is already licensed firearms. From Gun Owners of South Africa:

The FCA is purported to be concerned with the 'fight against crime', is in reality entirely focused on already licensed firearms with which, according to the SAPS themselves, no statistically relevant crime is ever committed - in other words, statisticians consider the occurrence of crime with licensed firearms so low that they don't measure it...SA Hunters is merely seeking to prevent the imminent criminalisation of more than a million law-abiding South African citizens by this unneeded, unwanted, and unimplementable legislation. These million or more citizens are already licensed to own their firearms and have committed no crime at all.

Which is why "[SA Gunowners’ Association spokesman Martin] Hood...said the best course of action for firearm owners who still had the old green card licenses was to “sit tight and do nothing at this stage."

Folks...don’t worry...the Police here are so bad and so incompetant that they have a success rate of prosicution of only 7%. This means that 93% of all murderers, rapists, gun cases and others NEVER see jail.

Sad, because they could be doing well. However, the ANC LOVES the crime. Its one of their wedge issues as they keep getting re-elected on it and services issues. And with the white-hating-communist wanna-be-dictator Julius Melema running around praising mugabe and wishing that South Africa would learn from Bob I wonder what their future really is.

Gun Registration is ALWAYS the first step to efficient gun confiscation. The bureaucracy justs puts the first step of the process in your hands, under the guise of good and responsible citizenship. Then it takes the guns OUR of your hands, under the guise of good and responsible government.

“However, the ANC LOVES the crime. Its one of their wedge issues as they keep getting re-elected on it and services issues.”

All leftist love crime and criminals, it is one of the easiest ways to convince the sheeple that they need more and more government and to give up more and more freedom. That’s why they resist actual punishment for criminals, because if they aren’t walking around hurting people they aren’t doing their job for the leftist in power.
