The American economy appears to be in a cyclical recovery that is gaining strength. Firms have begun to hire and consumer spending seems to be accelerating.
That is what usually happens after particularly sharp recessions, so it is surprising that many commentators, whether economists or politicians, seem to doubt that such a thing could possibly be happening.

Disaster preparation? Blankets, warm clothing, large containers, bathroom tissue.........
If it weren't for Y2K, Clinton would have left us with less than one dollar to our names.
I’m with you, and I won’t be reading their BS. If and when this recovery ever takes place, it will be obvious, not smoke and mirrors from the media.
Change a few words (Reagan to Obama, Democrats to Republicans, 1984 to 2012) and you have an accurate description of the current political climate. Could the Republicans be as wrong now as the Democrats were then?
In 1984 we had a President who loved this country, dramatically cut taxes and regulation, stood strong against our enemies and never apologized for America let alone bowed to any foreign leader. In 2012 we will have an outgoing President who hates this country, dramatically increased taxes and regulation, showed weakness to our enemies and apologized for America at every opportunity and bowed to foreign leaders.
No, the only person wrong, aside from Obamao, is the putz writing this garbage.
There might be some signs of life after the swamp is drained of Democrats and RINO’s in November, and even more after Zero leaves office...
Afetr all that blather, here are the writers hopes

Retail spending is up slightly because people are getting income tax refunds. Meanwhile with a few exceptions, governments are bankrupt at all levels, from the Feds to municipal.
Yeah, some recovery, people are spending a little tax refund money. ;-)
I have never seen so many stores closed in the 2 malls near me in NY and NJ.
If you look at the geographic distribution of economic gain, this much is certain. The recession is over...for government workers.
Bummer will begin to “drill, baby, drill”
Not for long. The party is just about over.
There was an article yesterday from the Business Insider that pointed out how much of the current consumer spending is occurring b/c they have no mortgages...
So they are freeloading off their parents? ;-)
The economy is not the whole of our problems! Actually, if the economy picks back up everyone will go to sleep again while the nation slides towards Hell.
I don’t doubt it. Neither of those states are business friendly.
Have you been by that outlet mall by Bear Mtn? It must be getting like a ghost town, no?
Just another example of the MSM giving the Obaminator covering fire, just like they’ve been doing ever since about March of ‘09. Expect the stories about the “booming” economy to keep getting more stupid and banal as the weeks go by.
The MSM kept up a steady drip of toxic Bush stories from day one.
Nothing to see here...move along...
In our savings acccounts! ;-)
Didn’t they say the same thing a few months ago?
I wish they'd sort their propaganda out.
Anyways, the mixed messages point to a disaster on the horizon. They can't even sort out their pets in the media to get the story straight. This doesn't bode well for the Obama regime, they make Hugo Chavez look like a model of efficiency.
