State Republican Chairman Tom Fetzer called Thursday for the resignation of national GOP Chairman Michael Steele, saying the party has set "a poor example of the kind of leadership voters can expect if Republicans are elected."
He's the first state party leader to ask Steele to step down.
Steele has been under fire since disclosures that the Republican National Committee approved a $1,900 bill at a Hollywood nightclub that features topless dancers simulating bondage and lesbian sex.
"Recent events, regardless of who is to blame, have made it difficult if not impossible for you to lead the party in the direction that it needs to go," Fetzer wrote to Steele. "The best service you can render to your party at this critical juncture is to graciously step aside and allow the party to move on from this current quagmire."

Simple Here: The only thing that will keep Conservatives from being successful is eating each other which we are very good at doing anyway. Who is the enemy here? Who needs to be defeated? What needs to be stopped? The only way the current administration’s agenda continues is if we do not have correct answer these questions and act accordingly. We can snipe at Steele and Palin and Newt or Romney or Huckabee or whoever and watch a great opportunity go by the way. Support conservative candidates and make real change happen or snipe our way to another 2 years of sniping.
BUMP!
After grabage like Arlen Spector, where he was behind in his last election and G.W. Bush went and pulled his sorry ass out of a loss the pos turned around and threw Bush and the pubbies under the bus.
Better to be a smaller party and at least have an idea where your people stand.
And Spector was but one of many pubbies that should be keel hauled. And of course I know he is now a rat.
BUT crap like my governor Crist, or Lindsey Graham etc.? Throw them away like old garbage.
I’d sooner snatch away Democrat control of government than be a bit more “noble.”
