Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison will announce Wednesday morning she will stay in the Senate, flip-flopping on her resignation promise that left several candidates eager for the chance to succeed her.
The Republican kept the decision close to her vest until the final hours, when she informed her inner circle as well as her Texas counterpart, Republican Sen. John Cornyn, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of her decision to stay through the remainder of her term, which expires after the 2012 election. Hutchison will make the announcement official at a press conference Wednesday morning in San Antonio with Cornyn and McConnell, who had been in Texas for fundraisers.
The decision came as little surprise to national Republicans, who have been pressuring Hutchison to stay in the Senate because they didnt want to defend another seat in Novembers competitive midterm elections. The decision is even less of a surprise after Hutchison lost the Texas Republican gubernatorial primary.

Professional politicians are problem #1, in this country.
Only until the people say otherwise.
I'm thinking Texans have about had their fill of this pro-abort leftwinger.
Just another professional liar.
After all of her promises to retire.
She has to have brown eyes, since she is so full of crap.
Just to 2012 she says which frees up some repub campaign money for the 2010 races. Overall a good thing and I’m no Kay Baily fan.
It is a good thing and a lot of people in TX and outside had been encouraging her to stay until her term is up and like you said free up cash and not put another seat in play when we need all the money to go after the Dems. She is not my favorite person but I agree with the decision.
My hope is that we can find a good conservative candidate to run for the seat. Does anybody have any ideas about a good conservative?
Dan Patrick, Houston
Michael Williams
We have a lot of good possibilities.
She’s afraid Perry will fill that seat with a conservative, who could run as the incumbent.
Michael Williams, former Texas State Railroad Commissioner. He's the favorite among many conservative Texans, including me.
Great-—good to get input from people I trust!

Commis. Williams is my first choice for Senator. I have heard him speak several times, and he is a great communicator of conservative principles.
KBH breaks her word, film at 11.
The LLH! (Lying Little Heifer!)
our leaders are such whores
Perry DESTROYED her in her run for Governor... I kept saying during that battle it wasn't a good idea to destroy her because she might be to weak to win in her next Senate run... but everyone kept saying... naaaa she already said she isn't running again...
well... great...
now we got a crippled candidate running, which gives the rats an opportunity.
