Just wait until guns and ammo are deemed a health problem.

They tried in the Clinton administration and they will do it again.

This country is becoming unrecognizable.

Are you planning on getting your health care at the local neighborhood bar?

This is what happens when you let millions of immigrants, illegal and legal into your labor pool during a prolonged period of corporate downsizing. The employers have such a large pool of prospective employees to choose from that they become insanely picky about who they will hire and who they won’t. This does not bode well for this country or its citizens. You can’t unring the bell once it tolls. The inability to create jobs in America will destroy this country as surely as a bombing campaign.

Who wants a Nurse who smells like an ash-tray changing your IV?

I want nothing more than a competent nurse and a competent doctor. What they do with their spare time is none of my business.

***The wheels are in motion to even prohibit tobacco use at home and in your private car.***

It will never be totally prohibited because of the jobs & tax revenue it generates.

Idiocy? You’ve got to be kidding.

I believe in freedom. An employer should be able to hire whoever fits its criteria. And if that means not hiring people with freckles, so be it.

Same with housing. I should be able to rent to whoever I want, no government interference.

If you’re a smoker, find an employer for whom it isn’t a problem or quit smoking.

So if an employer doesn’t like qualified blacks, according to you they should not have to hire even a single one.

Glad we aren’t living in your world.....yet.

What about FAT people, after all they cost a bundle in health care cost?????? Probably more than the smoker does.

Smoking fines are also a good source for revenue tickets. If they criminalize POSESSION of tobacco, they lose that money and have to pay for prison costs.

Sugar taxes are coming.

Meat taxes can’t be far behind.

A nurse who takes xanex to get through her stressful day doesn’t smell like an ashtray. Is that any better?

The CDC tallies gun deaths as if it were a “disease” that falls under their “control”.

BTW Overweight people have now taxed the health field and insurance companies MORE than smokers for health related illnesses. Coming up fast are sex related illnesses...aids/hiv and various sexually transmitted diseases.

Well they use to have smoking and non-smoking restraunts....so your arguement won’t work in the long run...they will determine what you can or not do... choice will no longer be an option.

Being a lifelong non-smoker myself and having worked for a large hospital for decades my attitude is this....I have no problem with smokers paying higher health insurance premiums (and life insurance premiums).I also have *no* problem at all with a health care facility declaring itself to be *completely* smoke free.In fact,I'd support any such decision.I might even support a company that establishes a sick leave policy that's less generous than that for non smokers.

But refusing to hire smokers might be a little bit over the line,IMO.

In MA this “policy” has gone out in hospitals too. Makes a lot of sense, tax them to smithereens, and then deny them a job to pay for it. CLEAR progressive insanity of which Republicans are on board. Meanwhile, the obese do not get denied jobs, and homosexuals, who live a far far more unhealthy lifestyle and drive up health care costs far more then smokers or obese people combined, get preferential treatment in jobs, health care, and even government!
