Which is more constitutional, a church service, or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development?

Great reminder. We need to hit the core of our problems. Reading other threads about problems (riots and such) in Greece. The sooner we start to solve our problems, the easier it will be to work thru them. Sad to say that we have no intention of changing our direction any time soon.

Jefferson's wall of separation was an affirmation that Church and State should be separated as if by a wall. The US government has bent over backwards to accommodate all religions.

The “wall” was to PROTECT churches from government control. Not the other way around.

Just as an off thought, in good times, left wing groups like the ACLU do a good job of ramming through court cases that force new spending and new entitlements. These days, enterprising conservative legal groups could have the same success suing to get less intrusive government, because state and local governments don’t have the resources to fight anymore, and losing could help their budgets.

Every time I hear about this ridiculous example of church/state separation, I am amused by the great many election polls in churches. The hypocrisy is absolutely amazing!

Wait a minute . . .

. . . If the fact that the government pays for the housing means you can’t have a church service on the property . . .

. . . and if it explicitly unconstitutional for the government to prohibit the free exercise of religion . . .

. . . then doesn’t that mean that public housing, which is nowhere enumerated in the Constitution as a federal power, is therefore UNCONSTITUTIONAL?

no doubt that it is on us. I just spent a few minutes contacting ‘my’ congressman (Tom Harkin). I know my plea will not mean anything, but I can try...we must try....until we succeed.

Geeeeez .. I mean really .. why not invite the likes of Rev. Wright and let him bloviate to the people in public housing about how repressed they are by the white guy.

This insanity has got to stop!

MaryAnn Russ would probably be a great candidate for imprisonment. Seems to me tapping the taxpayers to pay fines for doing this stuff just doesn’t teach them a lesson. A little jail time ~ 10 years or so ~ might get across to them that it’s not their privilege to (1) decide that something is religious in nature, and (2) prohibit it.

Better story here. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/APStories/stories/D9E7V4NO0.html (even the libs were running from this one)

And update here

Church services are back on at Dallas senior complex
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/stories/DN-dhachurch_05met.State.Edition1.ed828f.html

After the anti-Christian idiot MaryAnn (note lack of space in first name) Russ apparently learned about Section 1984.

Once again, lefties are holding so fast to the establishment clause that they don’t even consider the free exercise clause.

Typical.

Just like they see militia in the second amendment, yet totally miss the part about the right of the people.

Uh, churches of various denominations have been holding mass/services in elementary and middle schools across the country for decades. Exactly what is the difference in this case?
