I would love to see this type of legislation pass in time for the 2012 election, only to have 0bama submit the COLB from Hawaii and then see that accepted by each State as meeting their eligibility requirements (it being the only proof of birth that Hawaii issues these days); only to watch the birther's heads explode!

These laws should have already been on the books and strongly enforced. They also demonstrate that more than a few people have doubts concerning the current occupant of the Oval Office.

The majority of people find this nonsense absurd.

One of 0bamao's and Alinsky's boys, eh?

And yet again, a Birther paints a person who is capable of rational thought as an O-bot, when the whole Birther movement started not on the right, but on the Left.

I’ll attempt to explain it in a way even a Birther can understand (which is pretty tough):

Postage stamp: $.44.
Copy of a birth certificate: $20
Seeing your opponents branded as irrational conspiracy-theorists while you push insane and costly measures thru a rubber-stamp Congress: Priceless.

For the rest of us, there’s reality. You’re welcome to join whenever you want.

Sadly, you are right. Just over half of our population finds the Constitution absurd. I think ALL candidates for the White House should have to release their birth certificates as a matter of law and prove that they are natural born citizens of the United States, that they have lived in this country for at least 14 years, and that they are at least 35 years old. That's not a conspiracy theory - it's the law of the land (or ti should be). A similar law should apply to candidates for the House or the Senate. The Constitution is not a joke and should not be treated as such.

It was terrible that that Nicaraguan guy was able to be on so many states’ ballots. he wasn’t even a citizen as I recall... I think he was running on the Socialist ticket. Anyone remember his name?

That's 4 now. This is the way to go IMO.

It's the only way it's going to be done, and actually I think there are more than four moving forward on it.

Does South Carolina HB3389 answer the question of what a natural born citizen means in respect to the bill?

It's not their place to do so, and if they tried then it'd open their law up for legal challenges. But requiring a birth certificate would be a simple requirement and one which would be hard to throw out in court.

I have upset the hive, I see. Thousands of collective posts on several conservative websites, going head to head against some pretty insane liberals on some less-than-conservative sites, all going on ten plus years, and some conspiracy nut thinks that I’m going to be intimidated by his inept attempt to marginalize true conservatives. I am more of a conservative than you’ll ever be.

I have for years seen far left extremists lie and smear President Bush by implying that he was behind 9/11. They used fanciful theories to explain that which they could not wrap their little heads around, the fact that we were attacked by 19 insane Muslims. I laughed and had fun at the expense of the few who could not get beyond their irrational hatred of President Bush. Those same people, starting with Berg, are now pretending to be concerned about a stupid little birth certificate, when what they’re really concerned with is making sure that conservatives are made to look bad, or at least give the talking heads on MSNBC and CNN a reason to say that both “extremes” are the same.

I will absolutely hold anyone who claims to be on my side to a higher standard than I would someone on the Left, because I believe that conservatism is inherently better than liberalism. So either put up the evidence that Obama is not a natural born citizen or admit that you have none and that the whole thing is a political ploy.

It will be very funny if new proof of eligibility laws get passed before chain-smoking alcoholic Barry Soetoro gets his health care plan passed.

Now we need State laws to ensure compliance with the U.S. constitution.

What’s wrong with this picture?

We have produced more than enough to give pause to any rational, unbiased observer, you evidently discount it, and moreover mock us for even trying.

You are but one person -- so far we have convinced MANY, indeed MOST Republicans, that Obama's status as a natural born citizen is suspect.

When you say something like this, it ensures that no one who has any sense of reason will read beyond that sentence. I made the point that Birtherism is absurd. You, out of whatever desire you have to miss the point, equate Birtherism with constitutionalism. The two couldn't be any more different, even if Birthers do attempt to use the constitution as a tool to make actual conservatives out to be whackjobs.

Really? More than an out-of-context soundbite? Let’s see it! Why isn’t every well-known conservative and Clintonista alike (because if the One isn’t eligible, then she would have been the Dem nominee) shouting this from the mountaintop? Why isn’t it before the US Supreme Court this very instant? Where are the Congressional investigations? I’ll tell you why, becasue there has never been one shred of indisputable evidence that the One was born anywhere other than Hawaii.

Oh, no thanks, I have lots of friends here. I do have my suspicions regarding the eligibility of the president and may post that here. I will leave it to a mod to determine whether or not I can post. Thanks again for explaining your intent.

First off — as a court of venue, you are what is known as “Moot”. Secondly, why is the standard to have a hearing on the matter “indisputable” proof?

That is too high a standard. Why do you hold that it is such a awfully strong presumptive fact that there are no legitimate questions of Obama’s eligibility that ONLY the most sure, indisputable evidence must be first presented to have a hearing to discover his actual status?
