Listening to the 4 oclock hour of Mondays John Carlson show on KVI with Ralph Fascitelli, president of Washington CeaseFire, was an exercise in verbal bait-and-switch, because what started as a discussion of the new law on firearms in national parks soon began bouncing around to homicides in Seattle and Washington State, gun shows and all kinds of unrelated issues.
Readers will recall that I discussed the parks-and-guns issue here Monday, with a link to a distorted KING 5 News story on the issue that included a short interview with me on Sunday.
The purpose of Fascitellis darting around on the issue of gun rights was a clumsily-veiled attempt to obfuscate the issue. KVI listeners were having none of it, and Carlson ever the gentleman passed up a couple of opportunities to go for Fascitellis jugular. It is a pity that KVI has yet to offer podcasts of its programs under its latest Freedom 570 incarnation because this one-hour segment was one that the public, and not just gun rights activists, should hear just to understand how the mind of an anti-gunner works. (You can see Fascitelli in action during the public hearing on banning so-called "assault weapons" in the video below.)

As we now know, remaining silent is not an option. Arguments are never truly won, they are only deferred.
Even in Canada, gun control is becoming an increasingly hard sell as people see that it does absolutely nothing to reduce crime or violence. Criminals, wackos and terrorists don’t obey laws; their behavior, not any particular class of inanimate object is what makes them dangerous.
Our local national park put up signs on their buildings saying no guns allowed, since our state does not allow guns in federal buildngs.
What the signs really do is tell criminals they will be the only ones armed unless one of the worthless nutcase NPS cops are around.
Now gun facts are what I’d call “settled science.”
It stretches in to other issues like global warming and the so called need for national health care. We are about to hear a lot of whaling and gnashing of teeth.
An anti-gun fascist named “Fascitelli?” How precious.
I believe that there are only two flavors of anti-gun types.
One is the civilian that has been raised in a non-gun home by liberal parents, and has been propandized by schools, news media, TV, and movies. This person is simply misguided and misinformed about the issue. They are naive.
The second type is the person who knows full well what guns are about, and that taking them from civilians does not reduce crime (quite the opposite, in fact), but only increases the power of thug politicians who are bent on totalitarianism. They are evil.
Every Communist must grasp the truth that political power grows out of the barrel of a gun. Mao Zedong
We don't let them have ideas. Why would we let them have guns? Joseph Stalin
One man with a gun can control 100 without one. Vladimir Lenin
A system of licensing and registration is the perfect device to deny gun ownership to the bourgeoisie. Vladimir Lenin

If the opposition disarms, well and good. If it refuses to disarm, we shall disarm it ourselves. Joseph Stalin
