They’re still the “Eh-Lympics”.
This clown needs to go to Edmonton and watch an Oilers-Flames game.
“Since his stirring spoken-word performance at the Opening Ceremony”
If this Shane was that fat poet who went on and on and on, I would hide in a back of the restaurant also. That poem absolutely sucked!
Jesus...if the Canadians want to beat their drum, let them for God’s sake, I say.
Of course, if the Olympics were in Iran, I would feel differently.
Cheese Heads.
The Canadians aren’t the problem - this fool Morrissey attacking American patriotism is.
Am I the only one on this planet who hasn’t watched the Olympics? Nothing against the athletes, but all this hoopla bores me to tears.
Good for you mates...
Canada is a great country.
Just as a little patriotism goes a long way, perhaps more so does political correctness.
Enjoy your day in the sun!
I was also going to add the hockey games where they booed a bunch of KIDS...
You are not alone.
I don’t think Canada has quite the inferiority complex this reporter was assigned from the “evergreen” list. Molson’s “I am Joe, and I am a Canadian!” was a sensation a couple of years ago.

Leave it to the French to piss & moan. I watched the Olympic Opening Ceremony and the intros were all in French. The French in Canada make up less than one third of the population, most of them concentrated in the Province of Quebec, some in very eastern Ontario and in parts of New Brunswick. The Canadian government & the Canadian Olympic committee bent over backwards to accommodate the French & per usual all they get is more whining. Next, still another Quebec referendum vote threatening to cede from Canada.
I get a kick out of all the crazy-ass events that nobody in their right mind would try like the downhill, ski-jumping, luging, bobsledding, et al.
Meanwhile, us fat, lazy Americans are kicking everyone’s butt in the Olympics, doncha’ know.
Cheers, eh?
“The fence around the cauldron was taken down”
Shows you how in touch he is - the fence was not taken down, just moved closer and modified so people could get better pics.

“And there’s nothing wrong with a little bit of national pride.”
Canadians have always been patriotic and shown more than “a little bit” of national pride.
The only difference is now they are admitting it (sort of).
Hey, and why not? With deficit spending somewhat under control, a banking system that is generally solvent, and natural resources that everyone in the world wants - things are looking up for Canadians.
They still delude themselves on their health care system - and will even continue to insist it’s a great system - all the way to an early grave - but it does have widespread support from the vast majority of citizens - and is one more thing that they crow about patriotically.
It took the butt-stupidity of Obama to fool and then humble America, but after we send him to the political dung-heap in a few years, Canadians will then return to their former boast: “Hey, at least we can put our flag on our backpacks when we travel, eh” as the real test of what it means to be Canadian.
Or the way the Vancouver crowd cheered that cheap shot artist Todd Bertuzzi hit on Steve Moore and the way they handled that in their court system.
