Sadie the Scottie wins Westminster after (PETA) protest
Associated Press ^ | February 17, 2010 | Ben Walker

Sadie the Scottish terrier won America's top dog show Tuesday night, and that was pretty predictable. What happened moments before she took the title at Westminster was far more startling.

Two women walked into the center ring at Madison Square Garden and held up signs that said "Mutts Rule" and "Breeders Kill Shelter Dogs' Chances," the latter a slogan popularized by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

The crowd of 15,000 gasped at the PETA-inspired protest, then booed the women and cheered as security ushered them away without incident. The women were charged with criminal trespass, police said.

The interruption lasted about a minute and was not featured on the USA Network telecast. Moments later, the 4-year-old Sadie climbed the purple best in show podium where one of the women had stood.

"I thought it was well-controlled by our people," Westminster spokesman David Frei said, without elaborating.

Sadie was a big favorite coming into the show, which is for 2,500 purebred dogs. There have been previous protests at Westminster, but none nearly this dramatic. As a matter of course, the public-address announcer at the Garden reads an announcement urging people to visit shelters and adopt their dogs.

PETA: Some of the looniest Libtards from the lame-brained left

I like dogs and even like watching dogs shows but a lot of the owners are idiots. they brred the dogs to try to win trophies. Some of the owners I sure are fine but you have cases where more than a few people own one dog???

I almost tend to agree with PETA somewhat that some people may be too busy looking for the perfect pure bred dog just to win a trophy.

Please Note: I am not sucking up to Peta to win the blond on the right in the dog cage.

Guess we’ll all have to carry a few rotten eggs with us next time we go to a dog show. Just in case these idiots show up.

Thanks for posting this report regarding the winner. I watched some of the show, but as usual, fell asleep and missed who won.

PETA always has something to whine about I keep hoping if the media would ignore them, they would go away. They are just useless idiots with too much time on their hands. If they had real jobs, families and other responsibilities, they wouldn’t have all this time to participate in this nonsense.

Damn, the blonde chick looks cute. My current GF is a blonde too here in L.A. who’s a ‘semi-lib’ but I was able to educate her in the finer points of Reaganism.

“Please Note: I am not sucking up to Peta to win the blond on the right in the dog cage.”

“Good because she uses vietcong corks.”

Ahh...I’m not exactly sure what that means and probably don’t want to know. Thanks.

Wondered what the boo-ing was all about. We have shown dogs for several years and at nearly all big shows these morons show up making trouble, even going so far as to letting dogs out of their crates when no one else was around.

Balloons.

Filled with black ink - the kind that stains deeply

and doesn’t wash off/out for days.

maybe scented with garlic, or skunk gland concentrate.

My grandfather used to sign comment cards with “Eat more eggs, chickens will work for food!”

He was a farmer.

I mean... think about it... if you can get them to sit 99% naked in a cage advocating for chickens, you can train them to do lots of fun and crazy things!

LOL! Knock it off. You’re motivating me to find the nearest PETA office here in the Hollywood area.

Oh, good God. So what if they breed them?? Years ago I used to raise Springers...gorgeous animals.

People need to get a life already.

Waitaminute, it’s a dog show..why are they in cages? Shouldn’t they be in dog collars and leashes?
