Alan Nunnelee is a fine man, and well worth the support of any Freepers in the 1st District. He ran for and won Roger Wicker’s state senate seat after Roger was elected to the House of Representatives in 1994. Alan is pro-life and pro-2nd Amendment, as well as being a strong fiscal conservative.
I don’t know anything about Ms McGlowan, but her candidacy sounds like a publicity stunt. If she were to somehow obtain the nomination, however, she would almost certainly lose the general election. Because of regional biases that exist within the 1st District, the Republican candidate needs to be from the eastern side of the district (i.e., the Tupelo area), not Oxford, in order to guarantee a win. DeSoto County voters will support a Republican from any part of the district, but as Travis Childers’ 2008 victory shows, northeast Mississippi voters are likely to vote region over party. Alan is from Tupelo, is well known there, and should neutralize Childers’ advantage in the hill country.
