Thank You, Glenn Beck, for Exposing Communism’s Evils
FrontPage Magazine ^ | Jamie Glazov

The tortures included laying a man naked on a freezing cement floor, forcing his legs apart, and then an interrogator stepping on his testicles, applying increasing pressure until the confession surfaced. Imagine the consequences of no surfacing confession. Indeed, many people refused to confess to a crime they did not commit.

Daughters and sons were raped in front of their fathers and mothers — for the sake of extracting “confessions.” These are just some of the delicacies that the Stalinist machinery inflicted on its citizenry in the hope of bringing socialism into earthly incarnation. Alexander Solzhenitsyn has shared much of this horror with us in his Gulag Archipelago — a work, mystifyingly enough, that I had never heard mentioned, except with a few exceptions, by one professor in a lecture or seminar in my entire eleven years studying Cold War history in academia. It was a work that I never saw, again with a few exceptions, on any academic syllabus — and many of my courses concerned Soviet history and American foreign policy toward the Soviet Union.

Both of my grandfathers were exterminated by Stalinist terror. Both of my parents, Yuri and Marina Glazov, were dissidents in the former Soviet Union. They risked their lives for freedom; they stood up against Soviet totalitarianism. They barely escaped the gulag, a fortune many of our friends and relatives did not share.

Yes, Glenn showed horrible stuff about the Communists, but the thrust of his lecture was for us to beware of Progressiveism whether it be communist, Nazi, Democrat or Rebublican.

Yeah, if you read more, you’ll see that Glazov also says as much; Beck isn’t merely exposing communism’s and socialism’s evil faces, he’s also showing that there has always been an unholy alliance between Western leftists and the world’s most ruthless dictators. In the end, progressivism is an ideology of oppression.

Great! Now Beck can work on exposing BO’s/BS’s ineligiblity to be President instead of ridiculing with the same Saul Alinsky tactics those who demand BO/BS obey the Constitution that have been applied to him by socialists.

I watched his show the other day and liked it because he was giving the history as well as the current form of communism in America. I got that around the dinner table, but I think my family was unusual; many generations of lawyers and editors. Most Americans are too busy to find the “two” and the other “two” to put together if the schools and newspapers and television shows never mention the basics and the true history. They don’t have an intensely political and educated family to teach it to them. That’s why the independents float with the wind.

Woebama: I think that Independents pride themselves in being able to “see and understand both sides,” etc. They just don’t get that socialism is a disgraced and inherently flawed and tyrannical ideology; one you shouldn’t take serious - at all.

As I said at the time, the fall of the Soviet Union didn’t make Marxism disappear. They spent about 70 years spreading its seeds around the world, and those seeds grew in the dirt of “Uh”bama’s family and mentors, and “Uh”bama himself...

People don’t understand just how close we are to chaos at all times.

Those who believe communism doesn’t exist and/or could never exist here in the US can count themselves among the world’s most ignorant.

We spoiled Americans had better wake up to what is happening around us or we’ll have similar stories to tell, if we live to tell them.

Extreme? Maybe, but twenty years ago there was someone thinking that Americans would never elect as POTUS a man who began his political career in Bill Ayers home, who campaigned on the redistribution of wealth, who would nationalize banks, fire a CEO and hand GM to unions, etc.

No, I take that back. No one could have even made this stuff up, let alone fathom what we would have done to ourselves with this current government.

What can’t you fathom about the government of twenty, or thirty years from now?

We fight now or hand our children to these devils on the left to slaughter.

It is just that simple.

We need to stop letting the Left control the language.

The anti-communists of the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s were dead-on with their “alarmism.”

The Left ridiculed them (Alinsky’s trick) and those who used the terms “communist” and “Red.”

So conservatives and anti-communists were tricked into calling them “Marxists,” which reduced the totalitarian threat to nothing more than a branch of academic studies.

I’ve been calling him Obammie the COMMIE for well over a year now because I won’t play that game. I will call him and everyone just like him exactly what they are: COMMIES.

They have not changed their true goal, so why change their name?

Tell me if I understand correctly what you are saying: YOU got what Glenn was talking about, but the rest of us who didn’t have YOUR educated upbringing are just “blowing in the wind”. Is that about right, that it’s really all about YOU?

My pleasure.

Re. the language: that’s exactly right. Orwell wasn’t making things up when he talked about “Newspeak.” The Left has implemented this language decades ago, and we’re all falling for it.

Beck’s doing a good job, but for those old enough, Bishop Fulton J. Sheen did as good or better a job back on ‘50’s TV - ironically, also with a blackboard.

‘As I said at the time, the fall of the Soviet Union didn’t make Marxism disappear.’

Marxism morphed into Environmentalism...example Gorbachev.

Glazov's description of the underground and unknown status of the Gulag Archipelago seems a little odd to me.

I'm not an expert in Sovietiana and I'm quite familiar with the work, having read it about 15 years ago.

The tortures described here aren't particularly unusual. They're just what brutal men have routinely done to their enemies throughout history, in all sorts of regimes. The only unusual thing about it being done by commies is the irony of their claim that they're working for the good of The People. Even if they have to torture them all to death.

Yep. That’s one of several baseboards the roaches had to crawl under. Another was black liberation theology...

I hear you and had the same thought, basically “am I being arrogant?” when I wrote my comment. I stand by what I said. Most Americans do not know the history of communism in the US or the conscious seizure of control by the left in the schools, media, unions, and the like that has played out in the last 90 years. Most Americans don’t connect the American left with fascist Italy or Germany or the Soviet Union. They just don’t. Are you going to argue that they do? If so, how did Obama skate to victory?

Exactly right.

And Beck is doing a wonderful job exposing this truth.
