You may want to read up on the woman at the forefront in this case before jumping to conclusions. Apparently the lead of the Baptist delegation has a pretty shady background:

There’s even questions now on whether this is a pay-for-adoptions scam. Others have posted similar information about her past scams on other threads. She does seem to leave a trail of debt and broken laws everywhere she goes.
Wow, now that’s interesting. If true, it does change everything.
I haven't seen that reported before. She has certainly been in some shady dealings. Of course, she could just be a well-intentioned but powerfully stupid business person. Or, there could be something more nefarious. But, I would be surprised if she was really engaged in international child trafficking. She just doesn't seem astute enough.
From the article posted at #11, “The Idaho woman who led a group of 10 Baptists on a mission to help children in Haiti admits to failing to obtain paperwork needed to move 33 children to the Dominican Republic.”
Thanks for posting more information before folks might hop on the wrong bandwagon.

WOW That information does put the story into a slightly different perspective.
Interesting.
Thanks for the heads up.

I felt there was something very fishy about this the minute I heard it.
It disturbed me when I heard some of the kids in question had living parents. The parents & kids were being promised that the kids would be given a ‘better life’. If you’re going to help orphans, the kids should REALLY be orphans - something doesn’t add up here.
I've been upset about this case because our country is pouring it's heart, hard work and $$$ into this terrible tragedy and I have been upset that they arrested missionaries....but it seems there maybe something "off" about the leader of this group....I hope if it's true about her that the others are innocent and will be found innocent.
I read your article. And nowhere in the article is there any discussion of selling the children. The article talks about her employees suing her in wage disputes and her many unpaid parking tickets. Those are a far cry from child trafficking.
I would hate to see such a smear without foundation.
If that stuff is true, boot them out of Haiti and don’t let them back in. Haiti is in no position to be trying to kick American citizens around.
I agree Silsby has a checkered past, but I don’t see any scams. Debt, lawsuits pertaining to debt, and a scofflaw as far as traffic laws go, but where are the scams? She was sued for past wages due from her business, but she also obviously paid a lot of wages, too, when you consider the promised amounts versus the amounts she was sued for. Perhaps the business wasn’t as successful as she expected and investors didn’t come through on time as she said, but that doesn’t make it a scam.
She bought a property and defaulted a month later. She wanted to run an orphanage at the property. Frankly, she sounds more like she’s bi-polar than she is a crook. She has big plans and talks big. Then, when it doesn’t all materialize the way she plans, she just moves on to a new project with great hope, energy and plans. I’ve seen this kind of person before and they’re always in financial jackpots. Most likely her husband couldn’t take it anymore.
This effort to get these kids to the DR apparently wasn’t well-formed or properly documented, but that doesn’t mean she was trying to traffic in children for the sex trade. There’s nothing whatsoever to indicate that. This looks as half-baked as her other projects.
excactly!!!!!! This whole thing doesnt pass the smell test.
Cant tell that to some tho..same types that follow the Huckster.
