House Passage Of Health Bill Will Be Suicidal
Investors.com ^ | February 3, 2010 | JEFFREY H. ANDERSON AND ANDY WICKERSHAM

In his State of the Union address, President Obama advised Democrats not to "run for the hills" on ObamaCare, but to pass it regardless of what the voters think. Imploring Congress to resist public opinion, he said: "We can do what's necessary to keep our poll numbers high and get through the next election," or do "what's best for the next generation."

ObamaCare can pass only if House Democrats heed his advice. Whether the Democrats try "reconciliation," try to pass a skinnier (still fat) version of ObamaCare or try to sneak elements of their proposed overhaul into law when people aren't paying close attention, this much is true: ObamaCare can't pass without passing the House.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi has said, "I don't see the votes for it at this time." She'd better hope she's right. For if Pelosi coaxes House Democrats into passing ObamaCare, she'll become Minority Leader Pelosi next January — or just Rep. Pelosi. Passing a bill would be political suicide for Democrats.

As Scott Brown's upset victory in Massachusetts demonstrated, ObamaCare is not popular. By better than 2-to-1, Americans think ObamaCare would cause their costs to rise and their quality of care to decline.

President Obama would like House Democrats to overlook these inconvenient truths. They won't, however, oblige him — unless they don't care whether they, or their fellow Democrats, get re-elected.

Consider this: Of the Democrats who voted yes on the House version of ObamaCare, 39 of them represent districts that Republican presidential candidates carried in at least two of the past three elections.

I just filed my fed tax return. I had right at $15,000 in out of pocket medical expenses and I still can't afford "free" government health care.

Want to make health care easier for me? Make all out of pocket medical expenses deductable and get rid of the "7.5% rule.

But if they did that, who would pay for illegal alien health care?

I've been in a couple of emergency rooms in the past year. I feel like a real sucker when I look around and realize, I'm one of the few who is actually paying my bill.

(Yes, as a matter of fact, I can tell just by looking.)

IIRC, the RAT legislation would turn the 7.5% exclusion into a 10% exclusion.

IOW, another lie that taxes won't go up on anyone with less than 250K income.

I'm waiting for the rats to apply a similar deductible to charitable deductions or at least to charitable donations to churches.

.

I've been saying this for YEARS!

Anything prescribed by a doctor would be tax deductable. Medication, procedure, medical device... would start at $.01.

No stupid formulas.

People should be writing to Senators and Congressmen about this. I have. It's soooo simple!

I wouldn’t put it past the Rats to pass the Senate bill in a lame duck session after they lose the house this Nov.

Pelosi may not be in the House at all after January. She’s not fairing well in her district according to some of my friends that work there.

We have two relatives who had babies at the same time we did. We have insurance, the other two don’t. They paid $300 each to have circumcision done, but have otherwise paid no bills. Our delivery was covered, but the subsequent pediatrician visits have cost us at least $20, usually around $50 by the time billing and everything is done.

They also get their food and diapers bought by the government.

It makes us wonder why we even work.

PLEASE, PLEASE GO FOR IT!!!

DO IT NOW!!

I don’t want to have to wait until 2012 to see the whole ultra-left, socialist, black supremist shebang collapse and for Queen Piglosi, Dingy Harry, King O’Bozo and his Wookie to be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail.

I retired from the U.A.W. after 31 years and have one of those "Cadillac insurance packages".

Do you look around and think: you're paying THEIR bills, too?

Accuracy counts.

Pelosi out? Now that would be a miracle. I wonder if the story about her lavish tab for booze and flights on air force planes are getting much coverage in her home district?

Liberals always claim to be for the little guy and then rob him blind.
