You don’t understand how a formerly free people lose their freedoms incrementally. Look at Nazi Germany as an example. Most things that were “outlawed” were still technically legal. Instead, things are simply suppressed through a system of intimidation and special priveledges. Pressure is increased until resistance ceases. The more cooperative one is with the regime, the more special favors and access they recieve.

Sounds familiar, does it not?

No I do not wonder. Taxpayer money should have never been given to them to begin with. The board should not be so generous with the salary package. The top shareholders of these companies should be exerting their pressure to insert frugality into the pay structure.

Once a person is paid however, of course they are going to find ways to pay as little in taxes as possible. As long as it is legal, they are free to do so.

Bad move by the WH ... and even worse move by Reuters.

Just what methods did the WH use in their “appeal” to Reuters?

Am I crazy in thinking that it is inappropriate for the White House to be calling news organizations and asking them to take down stories, unless they are dealing with security issues?

As of now the new budget is just a proposal and not law. Unless the law changes the article is correct. If tax cuts are allowed to expire without extension all tax rates revert to pre-Bush levels. So factually I don't see an issue here. Odds are, yes, the lower rates will prevail, but the article simply points out what will happen if they don't.

the media has been the white house’s mouth piece since he came in and before that the played to to the drum of bozo the clown.

Even Anita Dunn said that they controlled the message in the media and yet the media still goes with this.

All the problems this country is facing is partly because of the media not reporting what is going on.
If the media do not report the white house and those radicals will keep pushing their insane policies.

I’ll bet my house that as soon as a republican wins the white house the media will be talking and investigating again.

I have yet to meet one of the MSM’s reporters but when I do they will have a piece of my mind about their bias .

I’m sick to death of their bias crap, they’re nothing but a mouth piece and even though they see newspapers losing money and the TV losing viewers they still continue to push their garbage.

nail on head

never in my life have I ever seen a supposedly free media scrub so many stories, twist so many facts, ignore so many stories and then carry on like nothing is wrong.

last weeks example.
MSNBC ignores the ACORN story as best as they could as did the other networks.
What they had to cover was all twisted.
O keefe is caught going into a fed building and right away MSNBC is ending a supposed journo named shuster down to N.O. to cover this and ten they keep on the story where there isn't one.

it really is amazing to see their arrogance on display so public ally.
Remember when Bozo the clown bowed to the Saudi king?
Even though we saw it, and could see the photo they showed they still said he never did it.

amazing they show the photo and say he was not bowing and they wonder why the public has had enough of their lies.

Wait a minute, are you implying that the media was easy on Scott Brown and didn’t do their best for Obama Coakley?

Didn’t think so...

Just what methods did the WH use in their “appeal” to Reuters?

I expect the appeal was something along these lines:

Rahm: Reuters! Are you guys a bunch of "f'in retards"? Does the name Luca Brazzi mean anything to you? I knew you were a bunch of morons, but I never thought you were this f'in retarded! You pull this sh*t can of a story or you're going to find out very shortly how slow an internet connection can become. And that's after I have the CIA finger some of your reporters to the Taliban as spies! Capisce? You a*holes screwed the pooch on this - f'in retards. Pull the f'in story. I'll get back to you later; gotta make nicey-nice with Sarah's retard friends. If that story is still up when I get back, you're going to be more screwed than a $10 whore. Got it?

Something along that line I imagine ...

Thanks for the ping! I think he will let them expire because the deficit is a bigger political problem at this time.

I read the original story and compared it to some others.

I think it was wrong to pull the story entirely, but it may have been overly harsh.

The WH just said the other day it intends to keep all the Bush tax cuts for those under its “wealthy” demarcation line. Your average American family would pay the same rate as they do today.

At the same time, the article was clear that these are things that would happen IF Congress and the WH didn’t act.

That’s entirely true. What I do think is the lede was somewhat harsh and not consistent with what Obama had stated of late.

What does need to be pointed out more is how he now wants to only extend the making work pay payroll tax reduction for this year and then roll it out for next year (coicidentally after the election).

Actually the Reuters article was probably read by more people because they “let it leak that they were told to take it down”

Sort of a : “yeah we’ll take it down and we’ll tell everyone what the WH did”

Actually, I think I do.

The more cooperative one is with the regime, the more special favors and access they recieve.

In other words, it is a choice made by those being governed...uh, ruled.

Reuters, et al., appear to be making the choice to go along with the Administration, despite the fact that the First Amendment still stands, both in letter and spirit.

It's a very different thing. Just because some folks choose not to carry arms doesn't mean that the Second Amendment is dead.

No, but it is quite a stretch to claim the 1st Amendment is dead.
