US to Allow Haiti Orphans to Enter Temporarily
CNBC ^

Posted on 01/18/2010 6:12:14 PM PST by MarkAccord

The United States will temporarily allow entry to orphaned children from Haiti to receive needed care after the devastating earthquake in their country, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said on Monday.

"We are committed to doing everything we can to help reunite families in Haiti during this very difficult time," Napolitano said in a statement.

"While we remain focused on family reunification in Haiti, authorizing the use of humanitarian parole for orphans who are eligible for adoption in the United States will allow them to receive the care they need here," she said.

The "humanitarian parole policy" will be applied on a case-by-case basis to children legally confirmed as orphans eligible for adoption in another country by the Haitian government and who are being adopted by U.S. citizens.

Also eligible are children previously identified by an adoption service as eligible for inter-country adoption and who have been matched to prospective adoptive American parents, the Homeland Security Department said.

To the Obama Administration, "temporarily" means 50 years or so. Another vote for the Democrats.

George W. Bush’s one big disappointment in office was not passing universal amnesty for illegal aliens.

He seems to be working with “his step-brother” Clinton and Obama to provide an one for Haitians.

This is going to be so bad for America. It might be the thing to help Obama win in 2012. The public is being played in this story. Unreal.

Barack Obama’s Aunt from Kenya who lives on public assistance has also been in this country “temporarily” for about 25 years.

If loving Americans are willing to take these children then more power to them.

But please don't insult our intelligence with the "temporarily" line.

It sure would be nice if they updated the software on this site. I think it is circa 2002 software.

What do you mean? I am sure these young children will be wanting to go back to Haiti as soon as possible. It is so nice there, and they have had Obama-like Presidents there for decades.

Correct me if I am wrong but are these children not already paired up with adoptive families or under contract with adoption agencies here?

If that is the case, I applaud bringing those children to the United States to be placed with their future families. I am an adoptive parent and it was heartbreaking to see the couple interviewed on the news about their little guy who was waiting on the paperwork (14 months) to be finalized so they could finally complete the adoption. They had already traveled to Haiti to meet the little guy.

There are numerous families who are more than willing to adopt these children and raise them to be fine Americans. We have several friends who wish to adopt.

I don’t understand those who continue to equate this with illegal immigration. These are children!

"They will never leave now."

I'm not terribly worried about a few hundred, or even a few thousand injured, hungry and abandoned children being permitted entry into the US for humanitarian purposes, even if their entry is permanent. I think the Republic will survive.

Relief Plane to Bring 61 Haitian Orphans to Western Pennsylvania

Monday, January 18, 2010

PITTSBURGH — A flight taking supplies to earthquake-ravaged Haiti is supposed to return to Pittsburgh with about 60 of the orphans who have been cared for by two western Pennsylvania women who run an orphanage there.

Dan Laurent, a spokesman for the West Penn Allegheny Health System, confirmed that the plane filled with relief supplies from Brother's Brother Foundation left Pittsburgh International Airport about noon. Laurent says the plane is supposed to bring back 61 orphans cared for by Jamie and Ali McMutrie, who are from the Pittsburgh suburb of Ben Avon. They have lived in Port-au-Prince since 2007 and run an orphanage called BRESMA.

Laurent says he knows about the mission because the hospital has an emergency physician on board.

Now comes the fight over who gets to adopt them. Some Hollywood and politician stars need new accessories.

Thank you. People need to take off their political goggles on this one. They are not removing all the children in Haiti. Only those that were already in orphanages either in the adoption process or just starting the process.

I believe they will have many more orphans to refill the orphanages as soon as the orphanages are operating again.

P.S. - I am vehemently against illegal immigration and I donate to several groups that lobby and work to secure our borders. This is entirely different in my opinion.

What if it is 50,000 or 60,000? The are plenty of children in the U.S. that need adoptive parents, too. Separate the emotion from this recent event and let’s instead focus on all of the kids already here that would love to be adopted.

These people are absolutely unoppressed by the white man. They live in a carribien paradise and still they are heathen savages in adversity. Billions on dollars have poured down this rat hole and to no avail. They make $1.50 a month!! At some point lift yourself up!!! I’m sorry but they are cultural and moral failures. It’s not my fault and not my burden.
