You knew it was just a matter of time before partisan angles emerged about the disaster in Haiti. The Huffington Post takes umbrage at Rush Limbaugh: "Limbaugh also seems to feel we've done enough already for Haiti: 'We've already donated to Haiti. It's called the U.S. income tax.'"
Obviously, when people are struggling to crawl out from rubble and with meager medical systems stretched to the breaking point, you've got to mobilize. But on the facts, Rush is right.
The tale of U.S. foreign aid to Haiti is maddening, as well-meaning Americans dump more and more money to alleviate suffering, only to see little or no actual improvement in the living conditions on the ground.
Since 1973, the United States has been the worlds largest foreign-aid donor to Haiti, which ranks among the worlds poorest countries.
From 1990 to 2005, the U.S. sent $1.46 billion to Haiti in aid from development assistance and children's health through the Economic Support Fund, the U.S. food program, the Peace Corps, and foreign military training (although that was only $4.6 million, with $3 million coming in 1995). More recently,

Did you see this?
That place needs a lot of prayers.
Laura Ingram said it well last night as a guest on O’won’tshutup. You can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Well Ok that wasn’t exactly what she said. Closer would be money can’t change the will of the people. The bad government is also part of the problem.
Facts do not matter to desperate Liberals who see their dreams of remaking America on the Venezuelan model crumbling out from under them. The real Earthquake is in Mass. They are grasping at straws.
I also wonder, WHERE has all the money, U.S. taxpayers been spent? WHERE did it go? Will MORE money finally get to the Haitians that need it?
I hadn’t seen that. Thanks.
My question has been, they have the water and MRE’s and rice, etc, why couldn’t they start dropping it by helicopter in different parts of the country 2 days ago when they first flew it in?
peaking of crooks, isn’t Bill Clinton some kind of a good will ambassador? Will he be raping women there when he goes?

Speaking of crooks, isn’t Bill Clinton some kind of a good will ambassador? Will he be raping women there when he goes?
I beleive they have been waiting for the helecopters that will be arriving with an aircraft carrier today.
Anybody notice ‘’Clinton’s Foundation’’, money goes to his FOUNDATION’’ first then it may or may not get to Haiti,,,,money grab.
Where did all the money go sent to New Orleans? The levees are still not fixed after billions of $$$.
“I beleive they have been waiting for the helecopters that will be arriving with an aircraft carrier today.”
That’s just too long. They need a better plan.
Because with no law and order the thugs would grab the supplies.
Law & Order needs to come with the supplies.
You sure don’t see any helicopters in the news coverage so far.
If Clinton fails to do the raping, the UN will take care of that for him.
Both have reputations in that matter.
Not to appear totally cruel here, but at what point does the government of Haiti bear some responsibility for the lack of preparation?
When do the people of Haiti get it through their heads that you can’t continue to breed like rabbits when the environment won’t support you?
When do the various world governments stop enabling this country?
The picture in Haiti is the very picture of hundreds of other areas in the world where the environment can not support the population, where they are on the razor’s edge of calamity when natural disaster strikes.
Lets say we have torrential rains in the driest parts of Africa with flooding all over - they would quickly descend into chaos. They depend so much on the rest of the world for sustenance yet they continue to produce offspring at rates well above what can be supported.
While I hate to see the images of suffering, my logical brain tells me there isn’t enough money in all of the US to make Haiti whole, bring stability to it and turn a desolate, inhospitable island into a paradise that can self sustain. Like an alcoholic that needs to hit rock bottom, that country needs to do some collective soul searching to figure out how they get through the next 100 years.
Hi...
Part of the problem is the fact that they have a barely functioning government as it is. Think of Somalia minus the muslim warlords.
