MICHIGAN ELECTION CENTRAL

If we are going to make a difference in the upcoming election, we need to KNOW the candidates. Please post the names of ALL your Congressional candidates on this thread along with any and all information available.

We need names, positions, platforms, news articles, statements, pictures. We need to separate the RINOS from the Conservatives, and most of all, we need to get the liberals of either party OUT!

We can do this if you help. I have started this thread. All you have to do is contribute a little time and a little research. Help us help this country, and between us, we WILL take our country back!

Let's Do It!!!

Tim Walberg for Michigan’s 7th district. He had one term before being tossed overboard by the NRCC in the last election and in this election they’ve imported a carpetbagger to run against him in the primary.

When gas prices were over $4 a gallon, Walberg stayed in DC during the summer break and demanded that democrats return and deal with energy policy. He was a firm no vote on the bank bailouts. (which is when the NRCC decided he was a lost cause and left him to lose by 2%)

In all fairness to Brian Rooney he sounds OKish but nobody likes a carpetbagger and he has zero legislative experience. If he ran for a state seat I would likely vote for him. He’s a marine and attorney who defended the Haditha marines. He’s the brother of Fla congressman Tom Rooney and Nephew of Dan Rooney (Rooney rule) Uncle Dan was also appointed Ambassador to Ireland by Obama in apparent repayment for fundraising for the Obama campaign.

Tim Walberg has my vote. Michigan's 7th district. I second what cripplecreek says about Tim.

For state rep, we have our strongest candidate in a long time. Mark Ouimet. While Ouimet is not as conservative as I am, this district has some very liberal areas, like the northeast portion of the City of Ann Arbor itself. It also has most of the Ann Arbor area townships. I can't be a purist in this district, and anybody is better than Pam "gay marriage" Byrnes.

My state senate district is a lost cause. It has all of Ann Arbor and Ypsi.

Lets get rid of Schower. He is a liberal rat. Walberg is the real deal. Even slept in his office so he could get more done. No carpet baggers please. I think Rooney was in Wayne County before he took up residence in the district. Lets all call the NRCC and tell them to kiss our butts. They do not decide elections WE DO! MA, case in point. And who was the chick they backed who took the money and then endorced the democrat. They have no track record with me.

That was DeDe Scuzzyfonza (sp purposely)that the RNC backed in NY-23. A gal from the RNC called here on Thursday looking for money and support. Poor thing got an earful. When they start supporting real conservatives, then I’ll take another look at the RNC. Until then, my money and my support will go to the candidates and PAC’s that support my views.

Tim Walberg

February 12, 2010

National Republican Congressional Committee Elevates Our Campaign to “Contender” Status

The campaign committee of the House Republicans sent out the following press release this week:

Tim Walberg Reaches Contender Status

Michigan Republican Takes Critical Second Step in ‘Young Guns’ Program

Washington- The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) announced today that Republican (MI-07) has reached ‘Contender’ status as part of its Young Guns recruitment program. ‘Contender’ status is the second step in the three-level program, with Walberg now facing a new set of benchmarks to reach ‘Young Gun’ status in his bid to unseat incumbent Democrat Mark Schauer.

Founded in the 2007-2008 election cycle by Reps. Eric Cantor (R-VA), Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and Paul Ryan (R-WI), the Young Guns program is a member-driven organization dedicated to electing open-seat and challenger candidates nationwide. By achieving ‘Contender’ status, Walberg has already proven his ability to build a successful campaign structure and achieve important fundraising goals.

Tim Walberg has demonstrated leadership abilities during his service as an elected official, community foundation leader, manager in higher education, and pastor. While serving in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2007 to 2009, Walberg fought to make government live within its means, prevent tax increases and make health care more affordable. Before serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, Walberg served as a pastor and in the Michigan House Representatives from in 1983 until 1999.

“Tim Walberg has already proven that he will be a formidable candidate by meeting the Young Guns program’s rigorous goals and is well on his way to building a winning campaign and putting this seat back in the Republican column,” said NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions. “Walberg is part of a strong and growing candidate pool of everyday Americans who are frustrated with the majority’s big-government ways and aren’t willing to stand idly by any longer. His campaign has put Democrats on notice that Americans are ready to turn the page on the failed experiment known as the Obama-Pelosi agenda.”

While already having completed certain steps to place him on the road to victory, Walberg now faces a new set of rigorous benchmarks that will elevate him to the top level of the Young Guns program and help him build an effective, winning campaign.

Americans for Prosperity “No Climate Tax” Pledge

I was the first candidate in this race to sign Americans for Prosperity’s “No Climate Tax” pledge and below is their press release. I signed the pledge last year, but figure this is a good week to once again highlight my opposition to raising energy taxes to fight “global warming.” Hopefully Al Gore, Nancy Pelosi and Mark Schauer’s energy tax remains stuck in the snow.

Americans for Prosperity Applauds U.S. Congressional Candidate Tim Walberg

-Signs No Climate Tax Pledge-

LANSING-The Michigan chapter of the grassroots free market group Americans for Prosperity (AFP-MI) today applauded U.S. Congressional candidate Tim Walberg (7th District) for signing the group’s “No Climate Tax Pledge.” Walberg joins more than 275 legislators and candidates on the federal, state and local levels pledging to “oppose legislation relating to climate change that includes a net increase in federal revenue.”

Walberg is running to regain his 7th District seat from Rep. Mark Schauer, who voted for Waxman-Markey in June, an energy tax bill that violates AFP’s pledge. Schauer has not responded to AFP’s inquiries about the pledge.

“The one thing elected officials should be able to agree on is that global warming shouldn’t be used as an excuse to hike taxes on citizens and businesses,” said AFP-MI State Director Scott Hagerstrom. “We encourage all of Michigan’s elected officials and candidates for office to sign the pledge.”

Michigan signers include: State Sen. Wayne Kuipers and State Reps. Hugh Crawford, Marty Knollenberg, Tom McMillin, Bill Rogers, Justin Amash, David Agema, and Arlan Meekof.

Cap-and-trade took its first step toward enactment when the U.S. House narrowly passed the Waxman-Markey energy tax bill, which escaped the lower chamber by a scant seven votes despite significant bipartisan opposition. Senators Boxer (D-Calif.) and Kerry (D-Mass.) have just begun committee hearings on companion legislation in the Senate. However, key Democratic senators have expressed opposition to attempting to pass cap-and-trade this year.

President Obama has made no secret of his support for the bill, which would be the largest tax increase in American history. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office has scored the plan as an $846 billion increase in federal revenue, a burden that will be borne by taxpayers and consumers for decades to come.

“Using the guise of climate change to transfer dollars from hard-working citizens to big government is unacceptable,” said Hagerstrom. “Regardless of their stance on global warming, this should be common ground for all of our elected officials at all levels of government.”

The pledge is available online at www.NoClimateTax.com. AFP does not endorse candidates. All elected officials and candidates are encouraged to sign the pledge and go on the record in opposition to using the climate change issue to increase taxes and grow the size of government.

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is a nationwide organization of citizen leaders committed to advancing every individual’s right to economic freedom and opportunity. AFP believes reducing the size and scope of government is the best safeguard to ensuring individual productivity and prosperity for all Americans. AFP educates and engages citizens in support of restraining state and federal government growth, and returning government to its constitutional limits. AFP has more than 700,000 members, including members in all 50 states, and 25 state chapters. For more information, visit www.americansforprosperity.org

District Events

This week, I had the privilege to be a judge in a Chili Cook-off in Chelsea, attend the Right to Life Dinner in Grand Ledge, and tomorrow night, I will be speaking at the Camden Fire Department Appreciation Banquet. If you participate in community organizations and are aware of events I should attend, please contact us (responding to this email works). I am always looking for more opportunities to meet 7th District citizens, whether at Rotary, Kiwanis, appreciation dinners, or annual events.

Have a great weekend. Please forward to friends to share the news and encourage them to sign up for our email updates and join the team.

Best,

Tim
