he President today signed an Executive Order (attached) establishing a Council of Governors to strengthen further the partnership between the Federal Government and State Governments to protect our Nation against all types of hazards. When appointed, the Council will be reviewing such matters as involving the National Guard of the various States; homeland defense; civil support; synchronization and integration of State and Federal military activities in the United States; and other matters of mutual interest pertaining to National Guard, homeland defense, and civil support activities.
The bipartisan Council will be composed of ten State Governors who will be selected by the President to serve two year terms. In selecting the Governors to the Council, the White House will solicit input from Governors and Governors associations. Once chosen, the Council will have no more than five members from the same party and represent the Nation as a whole.
Federal members of the Council include the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of Homeland Security, the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, the Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement, the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and Americas Security Affairs, the U.S. Northern Command Commander, the Commandant of the Coast Guard, and the Chief of the National Guard Bureau. The Secretary of Defense will designate an Executive Director for the Council.

Federalizing the National Guard?
Nothing good will come from this.
The Governors better ignore this before their actions could be the final straw and civil war will start.
Color MM - “skeptical”
Obama Brown shirts. Just like Hitler did in 1930 - 1938 . disarmed the German people and installed his SS Guard and made them more powerful then the German army. Hmmmm what is “THAT ONE” up to?
The List, ping
NOT a good idea. And we thought clinton was bad with his Executive Orders.
Somebody better protest this, fast! Hello, Republicans? Are you there? This cannot be allowed to stand.
I really don’t like the sound of this...
(It doesn’t help anything that it sounds like the opening to Star Wars IV)
unconstitutional under the 14th amend.
We used to have a method for the states to be represented in Washington. It was called the US Senate but one of the first moves of the 100 year strategy of the progressive was to utterly transform it with the 17th Amendment. Thia happened in 1913 under Woodrow Wilson. What else happened then? The 16th Amendment was rammed through allowing income taxes to be levied without apportionment and the Federal Reserve System was created. That’s when the foundations of our Republic were cracked. What’s happened since then is inevitable. Alas, I suspect widespread violence is as well. Living through the collapse of the United States may prove instructive, it will certainly be interesting.
“...synchronization and integration of State and Federal military activities in the United States; ...
“The bipartisan Council will be composed of ten State Governors who will be selected by the President ...
“Federal members of the Council include the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of Homeland Security, the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, the Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement, the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and Americas Security Affairs, the U.S. Northern Command Commander, the Commandant of the Coast Guard, and the Chief of the National Guard Bureau.”
So the vote to send troops to control citizens will be 13-5.
Anybody going to mention posse comitatus?
Don’t fall for it Govenors.
re: 13 to 5
ha, that’s even assuming that the Demagogues don’t have up to 5 subservient RINOs ready to do their bidding.....
we can be certain that the Obamanation would never appoint any of the more conservative or free-thinking R. governors, they will be carbon copies of their Demagogue counterparts....
Unconstitutional. Blatantly so.
Tightening Noose Alert!
Governors who have a spine should replace their local contingents of National Guard with a state funded militia that could be directed by the Governor and state legislature.
If the feds need their state militia to fight a war then the governor and legislature can make it happen ... or not.
re: 13 to 5
... yeah, you’re right. I was trying to be funny.
So Let it be written......So let it be done.
This is truly terrifying.
I pray that one governor, will be brave enough to declare secession.
I put nothing past the people MM.Would you really be surprised?I would’nt.
THe balloon is just about ready to go up, the string is unraveling at a furious pace.
Boys and girls, time is very short to finish your preparations, lay in that last case of ammo and those final few medical supplies, we’re going to need them very soon.
I agree and watch our Sec of States too. In fact watch our stat legislatures.
Lunacy is not the right word. Try, outrageous.
This is what the evil Emporer Palpatine did in the Star Wars Films. He appointed regional Governors and then dissolved the republic and formed the empire with his own army or stormtroopers.

THE WHITE HOUSE,January 11, 2010. #
required by the Fiscal Year 2008 National Defense Authorization Act which stated, The President shall establish a bipartisan Council of Governors to advise the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of Homeland Security, and the White House Homeland Security Council on matters related to the National Guard and civil support missions. (NDAA FY2008, Sec 1822)
But sounds like Obama's executive order created a council that includes the federal officials instead of just 10 governors to advise them.
Anyone remember what Nixon set up with his Regional Areas...?
I think there were 12 or so and I think they had some actual geographic areas of administration for Federal programs.
Is this legal?
No, I don’t remember. May I plead “youth”?
NG units built buildings on federal bases this last year, away from their usual armories and farther in the bases. At least one I know of was designated a ‘tank repair shop’. I never saw any tanks, and I wondered how the ANG would have such a mission assigned at that location. I thought it quite odd. Possible, but odd.
I was thinking the same thing. “...The last vestiges of the old republic have been swept away...”
The Economic Development Administration (EDA) is an agency in the United States Department of Commerce that provides grants to economically-distressed communities to generate new employment, help retain existing jobs and stimulate industrial and commercial growth.
The EDA was established under the Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965 to generate jobs, help retain existing jobs, and stimulate industrial and commercial growth in economically-troubled areas of the United States. EDA assistance is available to rural and urban areas of the United States experiencing high unemployment, low income, or other severe economic distress.
Its stated mission is to "lead the federal economic development agenda by promoting innovation and competitiveness, preparing American regions for growth and success in the worldwide economy."
The Governor of Texas ought to set up a Council of Feds, and appoint 10 members of the bureaucracy from both parties to report to him on ways that the federal government is working to improve the lives of Texans.
Sounds good,...I wasn’t old in 65 either.,
required by the Fiscal Year 2008 National Defense Authorization Act....I would think so.
Actually maybe I just didn't phrase my comment right .. I meant skeptical about this EO, that it attempts to seek federalization of the individual States ... wholly unconstitutional, IM(limited)O and U(understanding), of the Constitution as originally written even with its various amendments tagged on.
What I should have written is this - Color MM *grievously skeptical*
LOL. That’s our story then and we’ll stick to it.
Seriously, I have no idea what Obama is up to.
No worries.None of the scum in dc give a hoot about the Constitution and would just try this kind of sh!t to see what they could get away with.By the time anyone got around to challenging this it just may be too late to do anything about it.Then its on.
I'll be interested to see whether any members of the press will note that we already have a system for the states and the federal government to work with each other, It's called the Constitution. And that was not established by the order of any individual. Obama now thinks that his ideas are better than Washington, Adams, Franklin, and all the other Framers, all put together.
CASE IN POINT Ohaha signed an Executive Order establishing a Council of Governors to strengthen the partnership between the Federal and State Governments to "protect" our Nation against all types of hazards. The Council will review matters involving state National Guards; homeland defense; civil support; synchronization and integration of State and Federal military activities; and other matters of mutual interest pertaining to National Guard, homeland defense, and civil support activities. (emphasis added)
FOR YOUR REFERENCE The phrase "to gain executive branch authority" was first heard 70 years ago, or so.....part of a package called "The Enabling Acts"......although it was written in German. The Enabling Acts granted "the executive" the authority to write new laws and change old laws without oversight.
“Is this legal?”
Doe it matter?

And forget his Birth Certificate.
I demand to know who took his college and law school tests because this MORON sure didn't.
Yeah, JUST ENOUGH!
13 to 5?!?
I thought that was going to be the Supreme Court vote on whether it is Constitutional (har, har, what’s that word?) for 0bama to suspend elections for ‘national security purposes’?
