John McCain’s top campaign strategist said in an interview Sunday that Sarah Palin was dishonest as the GOP’s vice-presidential nominee and that her untruths have done long-term damage to her public image.
“There were numerous instances that she said things that were – that were not accurate that ultimately, the campaign had to deal with,” said Steve Schmidt in an interview broadcast on CBS’s “60 Minutes.” “And that opened the door to criticism that she was being untruthful and inaccurate. And I think that is something that continues to this day.”
I think Sarah publicly saying good things about McCain is one thing, because she is being gracious, but I think behind the scenes, she hates his ass, I think she really despises him, for everything, but if she came out and slammed him, the media would be all over her for that too, but I think that she hates how the guy has ZERO backbone and never defended her, NEVER, still to this day he half asses it. I think if McCain were to lose in November, I’d love to be a fly on the wall in Sarah’s house, I bet she would have a smile on her face, but then come out and say “aw thats too bad”

I think he’s trying to push the blame for a failed campaign away from him so it doesn’t affect his income. McCain ran a horrible campaign and they did a terrible job with Palin (example her many different colleges and took longer to graduate. No answer from the McCain camp which is his fault. Reason her parents couldn’t afford to pay for all of college costs so she had to work to pay her own way and had to take breaks to earn money. First college was in Hawaii which they thought was cool but it’s expensive and the weather etc was nothing like they were used to. If they’d explained that it would have appealed to the majority of working Americans, but not the elite who already looked down their noses at her.) The guy is probably also getting some interesting consulting contracts for big bucks. It would be interesting to know who has hired him now and who he has consulting contracts with. The Doctor that the media trotted out to talk about medical reform turned out to have a 300k contract with HHS to do essentially the same thing. While it wouldn’t be the Obama admin there are lots of people out there on the left and on the elite end of the Republican Party who really want her to fail and will do anything to accomplish this just like they tried to do with Clarence Thomas.
If McCain and company are trying to make Sarah more popular, they’re going about it the right way.
It must really bother them that Palin is wildly popular and they are thought of as the sphincters of the Republican party.

If he is working with/for another Republican right now, then that person is supporting this piece of Schmidt in his current attacks.
Is it Pawlenty? My guess is Rove, but no proof. Whoever is supporting him, providing him work, should be held accountable, and now.

Steve Schmidt is clearly a Democrat mole/operative. Why is this so hard to understand?
Typical of Republicans - they trust too easily - when they should VERIFY AND VERIFY AND VERIFY and chuck the schmuck under the bus.
I can’t imagine the circumstance in which Newt emerges as the candidate. It would have to include all of the competition in the primaries going Sanford on us late in the race. (And since Newt’s already a repeat Sanforder, we know he has no shame.)
