Schmidt: Palin has trouble with truth
Politico ^ | 01/10/10 | Jonathan Martin

John McCain’s top campaign strategist said in an interview Sunday that Sarah Palin was dishonest as the GOP’s vice-presidential nominee and that her untruths have done long-term damage to her public image.

“There were numerous instances that she said things that were – that were not accurate that ultimately, the campaign had to deal with,” said Steve Schmidt in an interview broadcast on CBS’s “60 Minutes.” “And that opened the door to criticism that she was being untruthful and inaccurate. And I think that is something that continues to this day.”

Fair enough. I’d sit it out too. This guy has got to go.

Why would anyone hire this guy again? Why hire him in the first place?

Good point. I know Palin didn’t hire him. Why McCain would? Who knows?

Pawlenty has picked him up.

For a fact? Wasn't too impressed with Tim anyway. But why would anyone choose this looser?

I can't believe I did that...I know, I know...it's loser. Sheesh.

Certainly McCain never showed the fire/disdain that he directed at the former governor of Massahusetts. During the debates he actsed as if he were afraid of Obama. Looking at Obama, I don’t see why anyone would be intimidated, physically or intellectually, by him.

I think we know who has trouble with the truth, Steve.

Maybe the Bushies pushed him. Rove is such a double dealer he might do this.

What are they saying about Brown’s chances?

There is NO MEANINGFUL DOWNSIDE (Schmidt’s good will - worth nothing) for McCain to stand up for Sarah and all kinds of upside.

Yes, there could be a downside, unfortunately. Should McCain stand up for Sarah, she would be obligated, I would think, to stand up for him, should Hayworth decide to take him on.

I would prefer McCain to shut up. Sarah can handle herself.

Sarah was totally smothered by the campaign ‘professionals’ and her common sense, effective ideas were all squashed or ignored.

Maybe he was afraid of the media and the whole Obama-Swoon. Remember?

Since I hope McCain does not get re-elected, whether he speaks up is not important to me. I was just sayin’.

As for the downside, you have a point. Where McCain is concerned, the best we can hope for from Sarah, who does take loyalty seriously, is for her to shut up.

That's right, but since she's been on her own and calling her own shots, she's been flawless. :)

If JD runs, I hope McCain is gone. Otherwise...I’m not sure.

He just needs to go away. He has served his purpose and outlived it.

Right, she has the bill, but I was also speaking to Schmidt’s claim that she was last minute and they knew nothing about her, save for what they googled. THAT too was a lie.

A good chance Brown can win.
There are more independents than Democrats in Mass.
Many are leaning or going for Brown
