A Springfield mom of nine said yesterday she has been bombarded with hate messages in the wake of a Herald article on her lawsuit against doctors who she claims permanently sterilized her without her written consent.
Tessa Savicki, 35, has received a dozen nasty text messages and comments on her Facebook page since Sundays article on the suit. She said shes been attacked for being a poor, single mom who is on public assistance.
It hurts. I dont want my kids suffering, said Savicki, who lives with her fiance and four of her kids and said she has even dyed her hair to avoid recognition. One person told me, You should be ashamed of yourself.
Savickis suit against Baystate Medical Center, two nurses and three doctors claims they performed a tubal ligation without her consent on Dec. 19, 2006, following the delivery of her ninth child.
Doctors were supposed to implant an intrauterine device, a reversible form of birth control, according to the complaint in Hampden Superior Court. Instead, a tubal ligation - a procedure cutting or tying a womans fallopian tubes - was performed, she claims, preventing her from bearing any more children. ...
Savicki, whose children are aged 3 to 21, said shes been unfairly judged. She says she had eight of her nine children while in committed relationships.

“committed relationships”? yea right.
Give those doctors medals.
How quaint. Relationship is plural, meaning more than one. So, does she know who the father of each of her 9 children are? Or does she have to figure out which 'relationship' it occurred during.

There is no shame anymore.
More like strip them of their licenses and charge them criminally. Is this type of thing that you really want, doctors deciding things FOR you and AGAINST your will? I sure don't.
Where is the real story: how much money has she and kids collected from taxpayers? Had her first kid at 14 and hasn’t stopped and is indignant people don’t like paying for her irresponsibility? Was she ever married or had any support from the fathers? Stupid journalists presenting their agenda.
agreed. Zero tolerance for forced sterilization. A more effective and wide reaching form of birth control would be to disallow benefits for any children born while on benefits. Stop feeding the behavior, it magically ends.
But we don’t like her. And eugenics is good, as long as WE get to be on the living and breeding side of the line, and THOSE are on the sterilized and euthanized side of the line. /s
I understand, but people are angry at Octo-mom and this woman as the general population has to support them.
It is a valid point.
Hear, hear...
This is the...person who sued a drug store chain a few years ago after she became pregnant, claiming they sold her expired spermicide which resulted in an ‘unwanted pregnancy’. I wonder if that child has learned they were not wanted to the degree of a lawsuit?
Apparently Tessa’s desire for children is heavily influenced by the amount of money involved. Basically, she has a hobby that she feels the taxpayers of Massachusetts have an obligation to subsidize. Shame is dead among liberals, who literally feeeel the world owes them a living. And their nine children too.
The photo shows decent clothes and furnishings, and she has money for Facebook and time for interviews. I work six days a week. Is ‘irresponsibly parasitic bitch’ too harsh of a description for her?
Yes. This cuts both ways. On the one hand, there is no excuse for sterilizing someone without their permission.
On the other hand, an unmarried mother of nine, planning to have a tenth child by her current boyfriend, is a bit much.
The solution is to repeal the welfare laws that encourage single mothers. It’s not good for the kids—although the solution is not abortion or sterilization. Before the welfare explosion, unmarried mothers were rare. Now they are common, even a majority.
Those doctors should be charged with assault. Not right for Dr.s to chose sterilization for someone. If you are ok with that, you probably don’t have a problem with euthanasia.

My niece told me that several of her friends are getting pregnant for the government money. She thinks they are nuts, thank goodness.
Bump!

She lives with four of her kids. Where are the rest - in foster care or what?
I’m looking at this from a technical angle. Placing an IUD is similar to a pap smear and doesn’t require any anesthesia. A tubal ligation is a laproscopic procedure that requires anesthesia. How do you pretend to do one procedure, but do another? She had to sign a consent. There is a special consent required for sterilization. Was she to stupid to realize what she was signing. Would a doctor risk his practice to lie to the patient about how the procedure is done, figuring she could not understand what was written on the consent? This doesn’t pass the smell test. I think she is just looking for a big payday. She didn’t figure the general populace would take offense. For the record I’d like to say I think the idea of someone else deciding for anyone these kind of decisions is repugnant. If we stop paying welfare, maybe they will decide for themselves they can’t support so many kids.
