The court saw video footage of the protestors being circled and protected by police. They were later joined by a group of 20 women dressed in full hijab coverings, as well as children and babies in buggies.
 

A Muslim woman, clad from head to toe in black, carried a placard that read 'Muslims rise against British oppression'.

On Monday, the men were threatened with contempt of court by district judge Carolyn Mellanby as they would not stand as she entered the courtroom, as is convention out of respect. Eventually a compromise was reached where they would enter the court after her during the six-day trial. The case continues.

The footage shows a group waving placards saying: "Anglian Soldiers: Butchers of Basra", "Innocent Muslims held captive", "Anglian Soldiers: Cowards, Killers, Extremists", and "British Government, Terrorist Government".

Protesters led away

One also held a bedsheet with the words "Anglian soldiers are war criminals" daubed across it, and another had a poster with the title "Iraq War Casualties" with pictures of wounded civilians.

The protesters can also be heard shouting: "British Army, murderers", as well as "British soldiers go to hell", and "shame, shame, shame on you".

One protester shouted to the crowds using a microphone: "They are killing babies, they are shooting babies, they are raping women and you are supporting this."

Two observations arise from this:

1) The police should not form a barrier between the protestors and the supporters. Both parties should feel accountable to each other for their own behavior, and if one party needs to have some Good Manners knocked into them, so be it.

2) Judge Carolyn Mellanby ought not to have reached a “compromise” with these thugs. Where did she get her Judicial Appointment from — a cereal box? She ought to have instead ruled “either you rise respectfully when I enter my court room, OR ELSE!” and made it stick. Nothing and nobody is superior to British Law in a British Court Room. Not even Allah.

If you never read the story you would think it was taken in the middle east or Pakistan not the UK.

They refuse to stand up to the judge saying allah is the only one they stand for.
They call Brit soldiers all these names while living in the safety of a country Brit soldiers gave.

If any of them are not originally from the Uk then they should go back and never to return.

Prosecutor Avirup Chaudhuri said a no-arrest policy and a special protest area had been agreed with anti-war demonstrators beforehand. But the placard-waving firebrands over-stepped the mark when they began verbally branding the soldiers "terrorists".

It's not an antiwar protest unless they are equally outraged over the OTHER side in the conflict and THEIR warcrimes.

I see the local paper didn’t give all accounts.

I know for a fact those soldiers would have loved to have gone after these fools and these muslims know that the soldiers couldn’t have

what they never planned was the public to rise up and try to get them.
Should have let the crowd deal with them and I see the muslims are playing the usual trick of inciting trouble and then playing victim.

They do this all the time.
Last week I was standing outside a store waiting for the misses.
I spat my gum in the trash and nothing.

As I’m waiting a car with GA plates was in the parking lot and then drives up to me and rolls down the window.
I’m thinking they’re going to ask for directions, it was dark so I couldn’t see who was in it until they were right up to me .

The driver in the car rolls the window down and there is another guy in the passenger seat.
I look in and see a woman putting a scarf on her.

the guy with broken English then tells me that I have to watch my manners or I have no manners.

I say excuse me and you are who.

He says it again and tells me that I should not spit and he thinks it’s rude.

HUH I then tell him to get lost(so many words) and then my wife comes out of the store and they see her , they then drive away.

Now WTH is that about?
Either they were looking for a fight or they were looking to pick one expecting then it would be all of their words against me and then they play the victim.
Either way I am B/S.
They left going in the direction of I-95 so I assume they were on their way back to GA.

Muslim protesters who screamed abuse at British soldiers in homecoming parade get away with slap on the wrist


 

Five Muslim men who screamed insults at soldiers during an Iraq homecoming parade today escaped with a slap on the wrist.
 

The five men had already been found guilty of calling the returning soldiers 'murderers', 'terrorists' and 'rapists' as they marched through Luton in March last year.
 

But today the men, who all come from Luton,  were freed with a two-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay contributions towards costs of just £500 each.

The men's lawyer has complained that the media coverage of the protest led to them being prosecuted, even though their placards had been approved by local police.

Lawyers defending the men said their clients discussed their plans to protest with police beforehand, had agreed to a time and a place to do so with them, had complied with police throughout and officers had not objected at the time to their slogans.
 

This implied consent by the police and to prosecute them retrospectively was not right, the lawyers said.
 

But District Judge Carolyn Mellanby rejected their argument.
