These sonsofbitches need to have this healthcare, and their smug, holier-than-thou attitudes shoved square up their asses so hard, Barney Frank will be jealous.

It’s imperative that the Dems freeze out the Republicans and do this all themselves. It is then imperative that the incompetent pubes get on message and campaign with this news to prove to the voters just how out of control the Dems are.

We think alike. My first thought: And then the SOB democratic proponents of the bill will be all over the airwaves with the complicity of the MSM, talking about how Republicans came to the table with nothing, and tell the world that the GOP is the “just say no” party.

It's a done deal.

The BEST the Republicans can do in BOTH the Senate and the House is to boycott the vote and not even show up. Let them scream but tell the Country that the Dem's are in command, and silencing anyone in their way by ignoring and not including them, as they've done all along.

You ask, "And why are the Republicans going to allow this?"

And what would you suggest the Republican minority do to stop the run-away train the democrats are driving?

As a Republican I will have no one representing my interests or wishes at the conference table. As a Republican I want someone there who will “just say no”.

"And why are the Republicans going to allow this?"

Your statement presumes that the Republicans actually have some say in the matter. They don't. That's what happens when the opposition has sizable majorities in the House and Senate. There really isn't anything the GOP can do until the 2010 elections.

They didn’t need a majority to filibuster when the bill was on the floor?

Could have tied it up indefinitely.

But, no back bone!

"They didn’t need a majority to filibuster when the bill was on the floor?"

No, they needed 41 votes. The GOP caucus has only 40 votes - one short of effecting a successful filibuster. They couldn't filibuster because they simply didn't have the requisite number of GOP Senators.
