Financial hardship? Give me a break. How much does it cost for a sex change? If you can afford to do that, you can afford what? 25 bucks? This seems ridiculous to me.
Basically what the gay rights people want is for anyone to be able to claim any gender, on a whim, regardless of their physical reality. And to be able to switch back and forth, for identification purposes, whenever and as often as they want. I really think this has implications for identity fraud and other kinds of crime.
The *really* pricey bit hits when they surgically modify all of your chromosomes.

Sex change operations aren’t that much according to Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab of Flight 253 fame. Cheap pair of underwear and a few chemicals and there you go.... (or they go).
