Meet the ultimate electric driving machine! BMW has revealed official images of an all-electric concept based on the 1-Series Coupe, ahead of its debut in Detroit. Called the Concept ActiveE, it represents the second phase of BMWs project i, following the MINI E, an ongoing venture to bring a range of zero emissions vehicles to market.

BMW needs to work on that.
Is it scary fast?
I doubt it. But the gas engine version, modified for stock-class in autox, is an absolute hoot
Actually that range would probably be sufficient for over 95% of the second car needs.
I would rather buy cars (well) built by Germans than Obama-loving UAW scum. Ford’s are fine unless the UAW tries to kill Ford.
We won’t be buying any Government Motors vehicles.
We’ve been buying Mercury for the last fifteen years or so. We’ll continue to do so, unless it goes south too.
We will entertain buying other manufacturer’s cars, but I do want to support American too, at least as much as I am allowed to today, if you catch my drift.
Hmmmm, I bought a Ford F150 fifteen years ago, still driving it and expect to keep on driving it.
It was the last year of the CAST IRON 300CI six motor and NO anti lock brakes. I will never part with it!
Ford’s quality especially Lincoln and Merc are very good. I saw a new Mercury Milan hybird in silver and it was a beauty. The 2010 Ford Fusion quality versus the past 3 years is even better. The 2010 build quality and fit and finish is up to BMW standards.
Bwa,hahahahahaha......makes a good golf cart!
Three hours to charge for 100 miles (at what speed?) would get you about the same rate of travel as what—driving a riding mower from gas station to gas station?
Hey, good for you. I’m glad that’s been a good deal for ya.
My last purchase was a Mercury Mariner hybrid. It’s a great little SUV. It’s a tad smaller than our Moutaineer, but coming back from Paradise, California to Glendale, about a 500 mile trip, we got 34.3 mpg.
That sounds good Frantzie. I was just mentioning that I really like our Mercury Mariner. I get from 30 to 34 mpg on the road. I’m generally in the 28 to 32 mpg range around town.
I’m sure it’ll be way overpriced, like all BMW’s and Mercedes. And the drivers will be equally as obnoxious.
Like all other alternate power, generating capacity does not exist, even before Obama shuts down half of it. Also Joe the Plumber is not going to have enough left to afford a beamer for a SECOND CAR! Lovely as it was, the Baker electric wasn’t practical then and an electric BMW isn’t now.
barbra ann
Good point and probably a fair estimate.
I would favor though a standardization of battery-packs, easily replaceable, which could be picked up at service stations. This would eliminate range as an issue.
Watch out BMW - the GM VOLT is coming soon......
I have a BMW and you can have it.
Worse piece of junk I’ve ever owned.
Exactly !
Want to buy a battery every year ? Buy a BMW. (google it)
You know those nicely designed rims around the headlight and the front grill, all silvery and shiny ? Plastic with tiny bitty brackets that hold it in and it still falls out while you’re driving.
Electronics — I don’t know how much gas I have most of the time. Pay to reset it, same thing.
Cup holder, bad design. Push it to use it it flies in the back seat. They fixed it. Now it doesn’t move at all.
Lock to glove compartment permanently jammed.
Don’t get me started.
