Will the government soon provide us with apples to sell on the street corner? Anyone know how to hop a boxcar or make rainbow stew?

My neighbor has been on unemployment for over a year. The only reason he started to look for a job was because his checks were about to stop. This is such BS.

Well my unemployment runs out this week. Hopefully I will qualify. I have been paying into for all these years, hopefully it will be available when I need it, like now.

What are we up to now - 18 months?

Found work cleaning houses.....as soon as the last extension went into effect.....ever-widening caboose back on the couch.

"I have been paying into for all these years, hopefully it will be available when I need it, like now." I worked helping veterans at a state unemployment office for about 15 years: Unemployment Insurance (UI) is paid for by employer taxes. The employee doesn't pay into it.

program unemployment benefits were increased by $25 per week.
Aren't you just so grateful that the government is so kind as to forcefully take that money out of your paycheck every week?

In NY we are looking at over 265,000 people running out of benefits in a few weeks (without this extension)...what happens when the spigot finally runs dry and there aren’t jobs to be had....
REVOLUTION, and it will be against the Socialists.

In NY you do not pay into the system, just the Employers. (for direct payments) BUT yours and my tax dollars ARE going for the extensions!!

I hope this is just for the folks who have exhausted their benefits from being out of work forever, and not everyone's claim. (All claims for 2009 are set to expire.)
I made way more in 2009 than I did 2008, so filing a new claim for the start of 2010 will pay more.
Just another example of the man keeping a brother down!

Hurray!!!
Oh, when you liberal friends rave about this, ask if they know how much the extension is? Cause it’s $25 a week.

I hate to tell you, the extension isn’t an extension of what you have been bringing in, it’s $25 a week. My husband got so mad he broke something when he slammed the paper on the table. He felt horrible, but I understood his sentiment. He’s worked at the same place for 27 years and he feels screwed.

I won’t argue with you. As I said, I worked there 15 years, and unless everything has changed, it’s paid for out of employer taxes and employees don’t pay into it.
