Kathryn, re your Facebook friend who asks, "Can we officially retire the phrases 'blue dog' democrats and 'pro life' democrats? Because there is no such thing:"

As I wrote back in the summer, "Put not your trust in Blue Dog Democrats." It was folly to bet the Republic on the likes of Ben Nelson and Blanche Lincoln and other "moderates" who are, by definition, trimmers and accommodationists.

Very true.

They just sneak into conservative districts claiming they are for something until the pressure is put on them by their Party bosses, then they cave.

Show me a blue dog Democrat and I’ll show you a lap dog Democrat when, not if, the price is right!

A Blue Dog Democrat is one that will vote to put YOU under communism, but expects a bribe to do it.

A moderate from either party is a person without values or convictions willing to go with the wind or the bribe. Damn them all to hell.

Nelson thinks Nebraska will actually appreciate the “special deal.”

NE is one of few states that is solidly Republican. Nelson is lucky to be where he is. We can only hope his whorish deal will ensure that NE Democrats win even fewer elections. He was once a respected man. Now his willingness to throw away any shred of principle makes him look like just another cheap hack.

We've just seen what happens when you make Ben Nelson your Maginot Line. The Dems are thinking strategically; the Republicans are all tactics.

Steyn nails it again.

Trust? They are in congress, and worse those two the Senate. Please dont act surprised. One of the last acts of 2006 republican congress was to pass amnesty. Everyone of them has a price,
