Will this decision be scrutinized? Obama is doing this for two reasons, both of which benefit him, not the country. Someone in Illinois is getting a VERY BIG favor and Obama gets to say he kept his promise to close Gitmo. Or does he, I understand that there will still be some prisoners who can't be moved to IL.!

You’re missing the point. The mayor of the town and other locals already approved this move because it will bring about three thousand govt. jobs to the area. They will call it stimulus and Obama will take credit for it.

The only reason they’re being moved to IL is because nobody else wanted them, so Dick Turbin pushed for this and Obama ok’d it.

There's no reason to close GITMO.
This move is nothing but payback to Obama’s friends in Illinois. Obama was a part of the Illinois State Senate when this prison was dreamed up and approved by them but it ended up being a big money pit.

Follow the money and I'm sure much of it ends up in Durbin and Obama’s pockets.

The Combine approved it, and after all, NOTHNING is more important than the Combine. So, instead of CLOSING Gitmo, it just gets moved. Those 3,000 jobs will be lost when ‘Gitmo North’ really closes? How soon will the restrictions be lifted, like they did for the Shoe Bomber Richard Reid, and they establish a work-release program to ‘rehabilitate’ the jihadists into Chicago cab drivers?

I don’t live that far from the Thompsonville prison. This is a jobs issue around here - period. Security concerns have rarely been debated. My concern isn’t for the prisoners who will be held inside, it’s for domestic terrorists who now have a convenient target.
