WaPo Editorial: "Yes, She Can. Palin Has a Shot at the Presidency."
Washington Post ^ | November 24, 2009 | Mathew Dowd

Posted on 11/24/2009 2:25:35 AM PST by ghostas

The gap between Obama's approval rating among Democrats and among Republicans is nearly 70 percentage points -- a higher partisan divide than either Bill Clinton or George W. Bush experienced. Obama's agenda and actions this year, and some mistakes, have solidified this divide.

Polls show that Palin's favorability numbers are a mirror image of those of Obama. She is respected and loved by the Republican base, while Democrats despise her. Granted, independent voters have significant reservations about her capability to be president, and this would be a hurdle in the general election. But to win the Republican nomination, Palin needs only to get enough support from the base to win early key states. Already, in nearly every poll today, she has a level of support that makes her a viable primary candidate. Just look at the crowds and the buzz her book tour is drawing.

Like it or not, if Sarah Palin decides to seek our nation's highest office, she has a shot. The probability of her success depends on her ability, and that of President Obama, to admit and learn from their mistakes as we head into 2012.

With even mainstream media outlets like WaPo starting to get onboard the Sarah Palin 2012 train, it's time for conservatives to unite behind her. There's a real momentum in the air that Sarah can save America and this may be our last great chance to salvage this once proud nation from socialist ruin. It's time for conservatives to stand strong and proud behind a young leader as we stand up for what we believe in. The time for waiting is over. The time for action is NOW.

SARAH PALIN 2012!

I usually don’t think any establishment politicians/consultants can give Palin advice on anything political at all really, but there is some good advice here.

Good article.

"Quality over quantity. You don't need to "tweet" quite so much. You don't need to be at countless rallies and photo ops"

This is the new mantra of the left. Every time I see it, I want to ROFLOL. This, from the crowd that brought us the Empty Suit!

"Reagan is the past"

His legacy remains. It takes a great man to have so long lasting an effect on the world, and he was one. Which is why I usually refer to him as the Great Man, President Ronald Reagan. The GOP needs to realize this for any chance.

Let’s see. Our country is going down the tubes like never before. Liberty itself is dying.

Then someone like Sarah Palin comes along. When you look at her it feels like you’re looking at the statue of liberty.

Anyone who doesn’t make the connection has a mental problem.

Although the MSM will never acknowledge the presence of the Rasmussen poll (released Nov 16) that showed Palin’s F/UF at 51/43 and the Fox News poll (releaed Nov 19) that showed Palin’s F/UF at 47/42 and her F/UF with independent voters at 49/38, its various branches are not dumb; they see the writing on the wall; even the PPP poll conducted prior to the release of Going Rogue which showed Palin at 40/49 in overall F/UF also shows Palin’s F/UF among Republicans at 75/15 and among all conservatives (ncluding independent conservatives and Reagan Democrats)at 80/12.

Anyone who denies that Palin is not a viable candidate in the 2012 GOP primaries is either delusional or frankly has an agenda and doesn’t want to admit it for public consumption, for fear of losing face or a paycheck from a cable news network.

Black is white, white is black when they are reporting on Sarah.

Hell, if they thought they could get away with it, they would be trying to convince us that she wasn’t really a woman, and have some cosmetic surgeon identify tell-tale signs of an operation, or something.

Really, it has got to the point that nearly ALL the Palin articles in the MSM really should be classified as fiction.

But, something like 65% of independents now feel the media have treated her unfairly. That in fact is nearly enough to negate the nmedia as an opinion leader on Palin.

Unfortunately it just generates divisiveness in the US. And I worry about Palin’s safety ... the media writings have become so extreme and nasty they could influence some lunatics.

I’ve watched many Palin videos and I never once said to myself, boy is she humorless. She needs to lighten up. Never once did I think that.

So while in general the advice to use humor is a good one, I don’t see that Sarah is particularly in need of it. What? Should she open with a joke at each engagement? I don’t think so.

As for all the rest of the advice. My gut feeling is if she does the opposite of what this twit says, she’ll do fine.

The problem she has is that she Threatens the entire entrenched system, the Club, both Democrats and Republicans.
She connects with the Common American that upsets the whole applecart.

I have seen Palin speak, I am about 3/4 way through her bbok, and this guy is off base.
She pays homage to Reagan, She does poke fun at herself, and let’s face it she is the woman of the hour. Would you rather look at and listen to her, or Michelle (the tank) Obozo?
She needs to be out there so that people can see the real her, not the media version, or the watered down McCanite version.
She is genuine, let Sarah be Sarah.

When leftest news outlets like the WaPo even hint that Palin could win the GOP nomination, then you can bet that they really perceive her as devisive and unlikely to dethrone the 0bama in the general election. They want her to win the nomination because they think she's the weakest candidate in the general election.

LOL! No, I don't think so. The WaPo throws us bone early in the week so they can fill an entire Sunday section with letters of head-exploding liberal outrage.

Hell, the Post is still hammering McDonnell like he was Pat Buchanan's Siamese twin.

actually she is doing everything he suggests, if you look at what she says an does.....but the fact that this article even appeared should show you a lot....no one wants to be on the outs with the strongest person on earth, and if Madame President gets sworn in on Jan. 20 2013, in 6 months she will have America back on it’s feet and stronger than ever.

Grouchy, grumpy Obama WILL admit mistakes. Thing is, he won't be admitting his own. He will be admitting the mistakes of the bad, bad USA.

They Obama war room is trying out the ‘alien’ narrative now by trying to claim that because Sarah is from Alaska (Mars to many Americans) that she is not conversant on how the lower 48 lives or what issues are important to them (eg the Hispanic lady trying to claim yesterday that because Sarah hails from Alaska she doesn’t understand “Hispanic” issues).

Would you vote for a foreigner/alien for President?
