Pendragon Books in Oakland: (510) 652-6259

Wouldn't it be a hoot if people called them and asked if they have Palin's book?

Be sure to ask for Nathan, the bookseller who claims Palin's book is "drivel" without having read it.

The rest of the article is made up of idiotic comments by Bay Area bookstore owners, and the article claims that Palin's book isn't selling well in the Bay Area.

Maybe it's because the book just hit the shelves yesterday and that many Bay Area bookstores are refusing to carry the book because of their closed mindlessness.

Meanwhile, Palin's book tops every best-sellers list and thousands are standing hours in line to buy the book and to see Palin.

Give "Nathan" a call and post your results.

I'm going to call on my lunch hour.

This is the kind of behavior that destroys small booksellers. They complain that Amazon and B&N are stealing their business, then refuse to carry books for political reasons.

A couple years ago, a friend of mine went into a local bookstore,, looking for a conservative book. When he didn’t find it, he asked the clerk. The response? “We wouldn’t carry that kind of garbage.” The store went out of business last year.

"Our customers are thinking people," said Nathan Embretson,

Translation: "My regular customers are so psychotically left-wing that they would boycott the store if I dared carry it. They would deliberately rip the covers and walk out as a form of social protest. I fear for my safety if that book is seen in my store."

Leftists think that "thinking" means "agrees with me", and are often violently opposed to other viewpoints.

The publisher made a decision not to print a special waterproof version for use inside homosexual bath houses, so sales are understandably meager in Sodom.

Aren't they long overdue for a genocidal earthquake?

Just because some commie bookstore refuses to sell a conservative book doesn’t mean nobody in SF is buying it. Nathan is cutting off his nose to spite his face, and Amazon.com is raking it in. What a douche.

I just finished the first chapter...What a women! She had more life experience in her early years through college than Barack O had through his entire life..

This book truly is an inspiration to the true American spirit!

I live in the SF Bay Area. Obviously liberals out number conservatives two to one but there are a lot of right wing people up here. Remember there are around 6 million people in the area so around 2 million probably lean or vote GOP. We have a lot of conservative friends. KSFO, a Conservative AM station, ranks among the highest rated in the bay area.

To prove your lie, Nathan, tell me how many copies of The Nation are delivered in San Freakcisco every month. Can't get more "drivel" than that!

What a dumb ass.
I’m sure he carries plenty of how to books for the Earth Firsters that give guidance on how to sabotage SUV’s and commit other acts of eco terrorism.

Well, 2 things.

1) You skipped the next paragraph in your quote:

“There’s not a single copy on the shelf. Embretson said no one has asked for it except for one guy, who was kidding.”

So, what you’re slamming is a small business that is being responsive to its customers.

2) Some posted a search with the keyword “Mao” (OMG, they have books about a major historical figure from the 20th century!). They could just as easily have done this search:

The Socialist left hate freedom of speech.

Years ago, I went to the City Lights bookstore in San Francisco to buy Michael Savage’s book. I couldn’t find a copy anywhere. Clinton had his book out and there were hundreds of copies being pushed in the store windows and on every table top and the end racks.

I couldn’t find one copy of Savage’s book anywhere. It was already a NY Times #1 bestseller. I asked the clerk for one and she finally found a short stack of them hidden in the shelves BENEATH one of the tables.

Her excuse was that sometimes books sell out from their displays.

I asked her if Clinton’s hundreds of prominent copies might so sell out. I read her the riot act while she rang me up — about how liberals censor any opposition and how they had purposefully hidden Savages book, on and on, in a VERY loud voice. All the customers were looking at me like I was insane. She kept talking calmly trying to quiet me down, but I wasn’t having any. I lectured her and the other staff all the way out the door.

I HATE liberals. I hate them. They are my sworn enemy, as they are the enemies of freedom.

I know Palin’s book will be hidden out of sight in most SF bookstores. I used to think liberals were misguided. No. Liberals are evil.

This is nothing new. During the Clinton years, Bay Area book store clerks put anti-Clinton books in the fiction section, hid them in the back room, sneered when you asked for something by Barbara Olsen or Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, and just generally made jerks of themselves. I consider it great sport to antagonize them by asking for books they consider unclean.
