Researchers at New York's John Jay College of Criminal Justice, reporting initial findings in their look into causes of the Catholic church's 2002 sexual-abuse scandal, yesterday said they can't attribute it to gay priests or seminaries for teenagers.
"We do not have data to support ... those assertions," said Karen Terry, lead researcher for the $1.8 million study commissioned by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, which is meeting this week in Baltimore.
Dr. Terry presented her interim report on the same day that the bishops conference also adopted a pastoral letter on marriage and a statement on reproductive technologies and approved the final part of a new translation of the Mass.
Some Catholic leaders have contended that because 80 percent of the abuse victims were male, the crisis must have been caused by gay priests acting out. But Dr. Terry said she found that abusers were confused about their sexuality and had poor social skills, but had no clear pattern of homosexual behavior.

One of my wife’s HS classmates is doing time for several abuses in his role as Priest in 3 or 4 Churches he served plus he ran the Boys Camp here in the Redwoods...
Lessee...99% of the cases involved priests (males) molesting boys (males).

Oh, brother. not this stuff again. No matter how you slice it, it was male on male abuse. That would be homosexuality.
The Boy Scouts do NOT get sued for sex abuse.
The Catholic Church gets sued for sex abuse, the vast majority of these cases involve male Priests who are involved with post-puberty MALE victims.
This is NOT the medical definition of pedophilia, this is homosexual sex abuse!
I do not understand your comment. What is God's definition, as these abuses occurred in 'His' name? And NO I am not picking on the Catholic Church. I would ask the same question regardless of the denomination.
Do you think the Heavenly Father distinguishes between pedophilia and homosexual abuses?

Sounds like John Jay College is worried about political correctness. They had no problem attiributing the abuse to homosexuals when the study originally came out.
The issue is not whether it was evil. Nobody disputes that.
The point is that when adult men abuse adolescents, the adult men are NOT “pedophiles.” They are homosexual abusers.
That’s why the “study” is bogus. It is an attempt to keep the mislabeling of the problem as “pedophile priests.” The number of actual pedophiles who have been exposed in “the scandals” is between two and five.
Oh, you mean the guys out molesting young men and boys aren’t homosexual?

Again, let us all understand the problem before we try to “fix” anything:
Men who are attracted to other men should not spend large amounts of time, alone, with vulnerable young men.
I would not want my under-age daughters to spend the night, in a tent, with a grown man.
Children should NOT be put in a position of being around those who might be sexually attracted to them.
Many homosexual Priests joined the Priesthood, in the FIRST place, as an escape. Before the Homosexual lifestyle came out of the closet, being a Priest was a way to avoid catching hell for not being married, a way to avoid detection.
Though less than 5% of the Priesthood caused these problems, almost ALL of those, particular Priests, are HOMOSEXUALS!
Of course He does, because He's at least as smart as I am. To distinguish between two things does not imply APPROVAL of either one of them.
