FReep this poll - Should DC require the Church to follow a law it considers immoral?
Washington Post ^ | November 13, 2009 | Jodi Westrick

The D.C. Council is considering a law forbidding discrimination against those in gay marriages. The law would apply to all groups that have contracts with the District, including Catholic Charities, one of the city's largest social services providers. The Archdiocese of Washington says that because of the Church's opposition to same-sex marriage, it would have to suspend its social services to the poor, the homeless and others rather than provide employee benefits to same-sex married couples or allow them to adopt.

Yes, the CC should leave and let the vermin in the Capital fester in their own fetid filth.

Good grief. 75% say yes!

What happened to the 1st Amendment?!

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

The consequences of same gender “marriage” on a society: forcing Churches to close down their charitable organizations.

That’s why we’re supposed to be a republic where the people cannot just by majority run others over.

Whose tag line says something about a democracy is three wolves and a sheep voting on what’s for dinner?

What’s all the “separation of church and state” freaks take onthis? I’ll bet they are all for it, because it’s really about militant atheism, and state control for them.

DC is what? 75% black? The black churches don’t want queer marriages, either. This is either completely stupid on the part of DC government or it’s planning a selective attack on Catholic Churches ONLY - and the law won’t be enforced against the others.

Should DC require the Church to follow a law it considers immoral?

Somebody Explain the other option to me - does the church get to NOT follow the law because they consider it immoral?

Think about what the muslims would do with THAT situation...

Don't get me wrong - it's a stupid law - but the church doesn't get to decide what laws to obey and what ones not to.

If the Catholic Church cannot run their Charities and their Hospitals as they want they should close them down.

What happened to the 1st Amendment?!

My thoughts exactly.

Government muzzle and control over content in churches and schools has got to end.

Everything the government is doing now is unconstitutional and this gay privilege goes against Natural Law. The Catholic Church recognizes that plus the fact that laws that go against nature are unjust (Cicero).
