Club for Growth PAC Endorses Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate
Former Florida House Speaker 'the Real Deal,' Crist the 'Wrong Direction'
WASHINGTON - Club for Growth PAC today endorsed Marco Rubio in the 2010 U.S. Senate race in Florida.
"Marco Rubio is the real deal, one of the brightest young stars in American politics today, and a proven champion of economic liberty," said Club President Chris Chocola. "He is a dynamic spokesman for the principles of limited government and economic freedom, and he will make a fantastic Senator."
Rubio served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2000-2008, and was elected to the Republican leadership as Majority Whip, Majority Leader, and finally, Speaker of the House. Rubio is an advocate of lower federal spending, tax relief and tax reform, union members' right to a secret ballot, and market-driven energy and environmental solutions.
Rubio's Republican primary opponent is Florida Governor Charlie Crist, who supported President Obama's $787 billion stimulus, proposed a state "cap-and-trade" energy program, and this summer broke his pledge not to sign any state tax increases.
"Charlie Crist has repeatedly joined with big government liberals on major economic issues facing America today, from taxes to spending to cap-and-trade," Chocola said. "He represents the wrong direction for our economy and our nation."
"The Club for Growth PAC has spent months studying this race, and we have concluded that either Charlie Crist or Marco Rubio would be heavily favored to win next November against likely Democratic nominee Kendrick Meek," Chocola said. "The only question now is what kind of Republican will Florida send to Washington next year: a pro-growth Republican with a record of fiscal conservatism or a big-government Republican with a record of tax increases?"
Yes!
Crist is toast..dead man walking. When the polls tighten, he'll he forced to debate Marco, and that will be no contest.
And after Rubio loses, the Club for Growth should fund Rubio as a third party.
Come on Baby, we need more true conservative independent party challengers.
I like Rubio but I fear given what he is that unless he is different than all the other latino politicians I know of he is pro-amnesty.
Bet Crist is too actually.
Funny how Cubans defend Mexican (mostly) illegals.
His wife is hot though....extremely...a Colombian gal...one of my favorite fine women source nations.
Great news. And don’t forget American War hero, Lt. Colonel Allen West, who I had the privilege to hear and meet at FABULOUS Freeper Convention on Sept. 12th.

He is running against Ron Klein who is supported by ACORN and SEIU.

Thankfully, he is NOT:

Legal immigration has been a great source of strength and prosperity for America, but I believe illegal immigration threatens the foundation of this system. If I had been in the Senate at the time, I would have opposed the McCain-Kennedy bill. I believe we must fix our immigration system by first securing the border, fixing the visa and entry process and opposing amnesty in any reform -—Marco Rubio.
GO RUBIO!!!!!!!!!! Now he just needs Sarah Palin’s endorsement.....
You are wrong. He was asked that question directly, and he rwefuted it point by point. Said we must take control of our borders.
actually I qualified my guess very politely that were he not pro-amnesty he would be an axception to the latino politician rule of being pro-amnesty regardless of party
glad to hear he is an exception but the fact that precious few latino pols are not pro-amensty is simply a fact...unfortunately
He sounds like a good choice...charismatic looking...how does he speak?
When does this primary occur?
Primary is a year from now.
I think Marco Rubio is the whole package, a bonafide Conservative Republican with a very compelling story (his parents escaped the clutches of the latin obama of 1959).
I speak Spanish and Portuguese fairly fluently and attended some 2506 Brigade and Omega 7 BBQs in south Dade and enjoyed Cubans, Nicaraguense and Colombians very much and their patriotism and their hatred of collectivists.
I was sad to see Cuban leaders join the pro amnesty bandwagon for fellow Latinos even though those groups have as much in common with Mexican campesinos as i as a white southerner have with Pakistanis.
I am glad to hear Rubio has bucked that trend.
I also lived a number of years in Latin America off and on.
Same reason Dems and GOP pols in New York and New Jersey of all ethnicities do: they need folks to clean their houses and wash their dishes with a smile...
