More info on the shooter ("harsh critic of US foreign policy")
National Review ^ | 11/05 07:14 PM | Andy McCarthy

Posted on 11/05/2009 5:09:01 PM PST by Behind Liberal Lines

Fox has interviewed someone who worked with him at Ft. Hood (Terry Lee) who says he was a harsh critic of U.S. foreign policy who said Muslims had a right to stand up and fight against the aggressor in Iraq and Afghanistan — i.e., us.

I think the families may have a comment on the Political correctness of tolerance of un-American hate speech.
We have a new “Hate crime” law....but it didn’t work when someone Hates the US MILITARY.

My guess: they were trying the up or out route. TV news said he was 40 - bit old to be a major? Not sure. But kicking out a Muslim or a Black Muslim because you suspect his loyalties - even if he’s come right out and said his loyalties are divided (at the very least) - is going to bring the wrath of CAIR and every PC functionary the army harbors.

This is hard to believe. It seems unthinkable that he would still be in uniform — but I'm just a civilian so maybe there's something more to this?

Undoubtedly his co-workers reported his anti-American comments, but dollars to doughnuts his superiors just transferred him to Texas so they wouldnt end up being accused of trying to silence an outspoken Moslem soldier.

If he was running his mouth, why wasnt he drummed out of the service, instead of being able to run loose on base with two loaded 9mm pistols and sackful of mags?

This act of domestic terrorism demands a few questions be asked:

What is a good Muslim?

The Koran instructs that Muslims should say whatever needs to be said to deceive the infidel, tax the infidel, enslave the infidel and to kill the infidel. So if a Muslim ignores the Koran; is he a good Muslim? Or, if he obeys the Koran; is he a a good Muslim?

Does the constitution, which was written by Christian men to preserve the freedom of religion, protect a religion whose fundamental tenets demand the destruction of the very freedom that allows it?

I heard his cousin tell Shep Smith on Fox that the guy joined the army right after High School, was in ROTC at Virginia Tech. The Army paid for his education. But he was trying to get out of the military, even hired an attorney to help him get out, pay the Army off for his Medical training, but the Army said he didn’t have a case and were going to deploy him to Iraq despite his attitude.

The one thing I remember after 9/11 was the OBL said he could prevail because they had patience to infiltrate our society. That we would not know their abilities and that their attacks would be surprises from without and from within.

Yes, now, IMHO, OBL and his comrades are patience, cunning, and are slowing integrating into our society.

JMHO

P C kept him in the military. At least CNN and Fox are asking why he was transferred from Walter Reed to Ft. Hood in April. Was there a problem with him at WR?

Someone up the chain of command was derelict in their duty to protect the troops. It is too sad for soldiers to make it all the way through several deployments in Iraq and die checking back on base in TX, murdered by a military doctor.

Shocking. How could a man like that be allowed to remain in the US military?

Hasan was ROTC and attended Uniformed Services University Medical School. He therefore had an educational commitment of upwards of 12 years. If the military discharged doctors who expressed misgivings about our role in the Iraq or Afghanistan, then a whole mess of doctors would start expressing misgivings, as most would love to be discharged.

For a doctor with hundreds of thousands of training invested to be discharged without serving his commitment would require something more like what he did today.

According to the AP he also posted on a blog that equates suicide bombers with a soldier throwing himself on a grenade to save the lives of his comrades.

To think as an enlisted I used to be punished for having worn, due to work, my boots too much.

The reason I left the Army, and can not stand modern America, it is the rules. The worship of rules, forms, procedure, always..even when those grab your gut, warning bells instincts are screaming signals.

Even O'Reilly seemed to question how someone with 2 handguns was able to inflict that many casualties, which I'm sure he and I are not alone in wondering how this could happen?

Not an authority on hand guns, (though I do own a couple, have shot a "few" in my 66 years and am a Nam Vet) but seems that (especially a shrink and not someone combat trained)this would be an amazing feat???

Although it was costly the military now has justification to do just that - but not under this administration. :-(

Won’t matter. By tomorrow I predict Matt Lauer will have all the reasons this terorist isn’t a terrorist:

1. Disappointed with all the right wing talk radio hatemongers.
2. Upset that his home state of Virginia went Repbulican on Tuesday.
3. Upset that Obamacare hasn’t been voted through yet.
4. Dick Cheney
5. George Bush
6. Phillies lost the World Series.
7. Depressed over all the Republican hate in this world.
8. Christian right infringing on his religious freedom to do jihad.
9. Heard someone somewhere desicrated the Koran.
10. Those cartoons of Mohammed from that Danish guy.
