There are 18 states, as columnist Mark Shields recently pointed out to me, that have gone Democratic in each of the last five presidential elections.
Of the 36 senators who represent those states, only two are Republicans. Both are from Maine, one of the last, storm-lashed, surf-pounded footholds of the Yankee GOP. So it is hardly shocking that the lone Republican supporter of Democratic health reform on the Senate Finance Committee should be Maine's Olympia Snowe.

See how the commie media tries to paint her as a Joan of Arc?
She’s not a lonely heretic.
She is a traitor to her constituents and the fundamentals of her party and she is in good company with plenty of other RINOs and a whole hell of a lot of leftists.
Does Olympia have a remaining brain cell? When she speaks, she’s right in there with our two ultimate bimbos: Pelosi and Boxer. Must be something in the nylons.
my next protest sign:
Start Following the Constitution
or Follow the Moving Van.
BAHAHAHAHAHA!!
She is not alone. McCain and Lindsey Graham take turns with her being stupid.
She needs to do some Jumpin’ Jim Jeffords/Arlen Sphincter switching of parties...
whats the point having her....if you dont really have her.
also she needs to take her Olypia Snowturd and Lindsay Grahamcracker.....with her. and John McLame needs to retire and take his meds....
Sadly, she’s is NOT alone!! She’s always got Susan Collins and a few more in her horrible corner.
OOOPS
I meant Collins not Snowe
She has about as many brain cells as 90% of the rest of the republicrats that are worhtless. Heretic??? She has a whole supporting cast around her in her own party.
Does Olympia have a remaining brain cell?
___
I think her brain has been taken over by something. I notice that when she speaks it’s as if she is repeating something that she is hearing through an earpiece.
Both her and Collins need to go! Why do we keep messing around with these rino prix in this party? It's such foolish nonsense. Conservatives need to change the way they vote and act politically. We conservatives HAVE to take control of this party back or this country we love is going to be lost! We know good and well it's on the track to socialist hell right now, who is going to save us?
Obamacare is bad policy - period. If Snowe actually has ‘principles’, she will vote against it based upon that one fact alone.
It may not please a lot of her constituents, but it would be the right thing to do, and she may actually earn some respect for doing so.
Olympia Snowe should run as a Democrat. That’s what she is. She can then continue to play the maverick by voting Republican from time to time. We, in turn, should run a true Republican, someone who believes in balanced budgets, small and (as best we can make it) efficient government, and individual liberty.
Of course, we have the opportunity to challenge her in the primary. She’s there because the people of Maine keep her there, and she has little reason to switch parties in order to appease those of us on the right. If we want her gone, we’ve got to force her to go!
Olympia has been made the special project of a White House stooge.
Snowe can’t really be described as a RINO anymore. She has attained DIABLO status. Democrat In All But Label Only.
Bingo. She's popular, moneyed, and influential.
And the GOP supports anything that is popular, moneyed, and influential - THOSE are the core principles of nearly all politicians.
She's not a traitor to her constituents who consistently return her and Susan Collins to Washington. The voters in the PRM, like the rest of the People's Republics in New England, have abandoned their independent Yankee roots in favor of the statists.
I first read it as:
Olympia Snowe: The GOP's lonely harridan
Just returned my RNC fund-raiser card back to em...with a note: Until you quit supporting and/or denounce Snowe, Collins and a couple other RINOs, you’ll never see another red cent from me. Sent it back at their expense.
