COLUMBUS, Ohio — Hundreds of people were left disappointed Tuesday after a woman who claimed she won the lottery promised to return to a clothing store and spend her winnings on all the customers.
The woman said she won $500,000 and wanted to buy clothes for customers at the east side Burlington Coat Factory, 10TV News reported.
"I said, 'Are you sure?' said Carol Hubbard, who was inside the store. "I said, 'I can't pay you for this,' and she said, 'Honey, I've got $1.5 million and I have been used all of my life and mostly by my family members and this is just my turn to give back.'"
The offer was extended to every shopper at the East Main Street store and not just for clothes, 10TV News reported.
"I said, 'I don't need the clothes,'" said Candace Jordan, a shopper. "I just need assistance with my rent and she said, 'How much is it?' and she promptly wrote out a check."
The woman who claimed she won the lottery was driven in a stretch Hummer limo.
"I won the lottery for half a million dollars," the woman said. "I don't want any of it and that's why I am here at Burlington."
The woman asked customers to tell their friends and family about her offer and said she would stay until the store closed.
Store managers told 10TV News that she paid for roughly $5,000 in merchandise with a debit card before her card's limit was reached.
The woman then announced to the store that she was returning to the bank to secure more cash but by 3 p.m., police announced that the shopping spree was over and turned the crowds away.
The store closed early so that workers could clean up. Some shoppers said they had carts filled with merchandise. When shoppers learned the merchandise would not be paid for, some customers trashed the store.
It was not immediately clear if the woman won any lottery.

I believe the way this story is playing out that the word ‘hoax’ is actually misused. This appears to be a case of a mentally unbalanced woman claiming to have won the lottery. Some folks actually got their booty paid for, then her debit card ran dry (about $5,000). She went to stock up on cash at the nearby bank, but her $50,000 check wouldn’t clear (go figure).
I find this story fascinating since all the store shoppers got so upset and trashed the store when they realized they weren’t getting free stuff.

Bad bad woman. But also, bad bad people.
She offers to buy people clothes. Now, I guess if they were out of work, a person should accept such an offer, pick out a reasonable set of clothing, and let the woman pay.
But read the article. People fighting over stuff, filling shopping carts full of clothing, tearing the store apart, and then when they don’t get their free stuff, getting mad about it like they were entitled, and trashing the store.
We have raised a generation of people who expect something for nothing, and want others to take care of them. Is there no doubt why a majority of americans would be happy to have “rich people” pay for their health care?
The democratic party has made a living off of brainwashing america to believe they are entitled to get something for nothing, to hate rich people, to believe that nobody succeeds by hard work and honest labor.
It’s getting harder to find people who, on principle, believe they are responsible for their own fate.

One interviewee (on the video footage) stated that when he realized the deal was indeed, too good to be true, he simply dropped all the clothes he had grabbed and walked out......

Was her first name “Barack”? This sounds like something a Barack would do.
If she DID win, she probably didn’t notice that it was going to be by a 20 year annuity which would add up to the advertised jackpot sum. She’d get 25 grand for each of 20 years. LESS TAXES. No way she could keep writing $5K checks.

There's an interesting parable between this story and what's going to happen as millions of Obama voters realize he's using a fraudulent debit card and they're not going to get their free stuff either.

Yeah, if this is an example. But I’m not sure. Louts behave strangely meekly when the head lout is knocked down so he can’t get up.
