Shootout at West Toledo bar spurs fears of criminal bravado (must see video)

A late-night disagreement between two men in a bar becomes a stare-down.
One side throws fists, and a brief brawl breaks out. Customers scatter. Tables are overturned. Friends on the sidelines straighten their postures and walk tough. Others grab their coats and head for the door.
Some physical commotion is not uncommon at evening establishments where alcohol is served. But it's what happened next on Thursday evening inside the Route 66 Kitchen in West Toledo that has unsettled some Toledoans.
With surveillance cameras rolling, several figures pulled out handguns and engaged in a shootout that raged inside and outside the bar for several minutes. Seventeen shell casings littered the floor or ground before the gun battle petered out, leaving a front door riddled with bullet holes and scenes of lawless mayhem preserved on video.
Amazingly, no one was hurt.

You must watch the whole video at the link. After the initial shootout, they move outside for a little more mayhem. It seems that there some considerable time before the police respond.

Is it mayhem when only property is damaged or destroyed?

Wow! Old Wyatt Earp’s philosophy on gun fights still holds, you have to take careful, deliberate aim even if bullets are flying around you.

"Is it mayhem when only property is damaged or destroyed?" According to Websters: needless or willful damage or violence.
So yes, I'd say when you empty at least two clips in a point blank shootout, it is mayhem, even though the participants are such poor and undisciplined shooters that neither was able to hit their targets at less than 10 feet.

Amazingly, no one was hurt. This is due to a lack of gun control. They were just spraying and praying.

It seems that there some considerable time before the police respond. That's because of cutbacks. They are fortunate that the police responded at all.

"That's because of cutbacks. They are fortunate that the police responded at all. " I have some family in Toledo, and they told me that this was really close to UT. It's hard to believe that it took police so long to respond to a shooting close to a university.

I saw this on TV the other night. It’s a miracle that no one was hit with all the shots that were fired. The police video I saw said that there were over 20 shots fired. What really amazes me is that so many patrons in that bar had guns. I don’t know what the laws are there but I know in NM it is against the law to take any firearms into a bar.

Brainless thugs like the dolts in this video are a big part of the reason I conceal carry. However, unlike them I have taken care to become well-trained to use my handgun quickly and accurately if absolutely necessary.
In Obama's dystopia everyone would be disarmed except for the thugs and the police. And because police are only rarely able to prevent life-threatening criminal activity, law-abiding citizens would be at the mercy of well-armed thugs.

It is amazing how hard it is to hit a target with a handgun when you just spray bullets under pressure. Even though I used to be a fairly decent shooter with a rifle, I never could call myself even average with a pistol...
I wish I had the place and shells to improve, mostly its the lack of practice I suppose.
To: OldDeckHand
How long-a minute and a half, two minutes, three, five? Do you know how long after the shooting began that 911 was called.
There aren’t cops on every corner and we don’t want it that way either.

"I dont know what the laws are there but I know in NM it is against the law to take any firearms into a bar." My local TV news station described it last night as a drug-deal gone bad. I doubt that any of the participants had conceal carry permits. And, even if they did, the Ohio CC laws strictly prohibit even citizens with CCW permits to carry in a place that sells open liquor.

Don'tcha know we have to cut police and fire services? Never can we cut the 55 year old retirees who collect a mere 110% of their top wage. That would border on neglect!! Junkets, too, are necessities.

That’s what I was wondering, seems like the cops weren’t in much of a rush to get there. lol
Jeebus, those street dudes look dumber than dirt...it must be all about ‘image’ (kinda like Obama) because they were jumping around so much they couldn’t possibly aim at anything...that one dude was shooting the ground and the wall, it’s a wonder he didn’t shoot his foot off.
But that’s why they’re so deadly to innocent by standers...they don’t seem to care who or what they hit with their drive-by, jump up and down shots! They just want to be seen shooting their ‘trey-eights’ or ‘double deuce’...
Like I said, dumb as dirt, but deadly! But they’re usually ‘bookin’ as they run or drive like crazy cowards! There’s no way they’re going to take a stand and fight like real warriors.

Last year or so, some guy got into a fracas in a parking garage in Baltimore when a cop showed up. So the guy (dumbass) whips out a .50AE Desert Eagle and starts popping off at the cop. Cop won. I would imagine that if the dumbass tried any of those ‘gangsta’ firing styles the DE would have jammed in a heartbeat.
