Just received this response from Nike...

Response (Jeff) - 10/01/2009 09:31 AM
Thank you for your email. Nike does not have a contractual relationship with Michael Vick. We have agreed to supply product to Michael Vick as we do a number of athletes who are not under contract with Nike. Thank you again for your feedback.

...to which I responded:

Dear Jeff,
Thank you for your response and explanation. However, Nike's decision to "furnish" Mr. Vick product rather than pay him for schlepping for Nike is to me a difference without distinction. It basically tells me your company does not find Mr. Vick's actions distasteful enough to get in the way of what is obviously a business decision. Fair enough. I stand by my earlier decision not to purchase your products. Thank you for your time.

None of that affects Nike's horrible marketing error.

Yes it does. If this all gets whitewashed and put away and MV has some good games, he will be free and clear and rich.

"IF" is a very risky thing to hang your company's public image and future sales on.

Again, this isn't about Michael Vick. He's going to be alright, because the sports industry has re-inducted him into their ranks. He'll make money, that's assured.

But, any company who commits to being his business partner is rolling the dice that it's going to work for them. Personally, I wouldn't take that bet.

Nike is rolling loaded dice.

Nike is rolling loaded dice.

For the sake of their image, I hope so.

We’re discussing a totally different crime, totally unrelated to child molestation and/or pedophilia.

I agree. But these aren't rational people you're dealing with. To them, animals and humans are equal.

Before anyone denies it, go back and review FR threads posted at the time of his conviction. Hi sentence wasn't enough for many Freepers, they wanted him dead, or at least put away for life.

I'm not a big fan of Vick, but only because I think he's overrated as a player.
