Wow, that is truly incredible, I watch this map all the time and haven’t even looked yet because flu season hasn’t really started, this is incredible. The funny thing is the whole thing will be over before the vaccines ever get here, I bet people who actually had the flu will get the shot too, lol, such dopes ...

Vitamin C + NAC folks, stay healthy ...

SERIOUS BS alert needed here.

This is about people SEARCHING for ‘flu’ on the ‘net. This is NOT about the disease or pathology or science.

Folks, H1N1 is indeed pandemic — meaning it is really widespread. Also, please understand that out-patient visits for “flu-like” symptoms are indeed up, meaning that lots of people are aware of the disease and seriously concerned enough to visit the doctor. That means diagnosed cases are up, numerically, driven by the number of tests administered. You get the idea.

But PLEASE, keep in mind this flu is relatively mild. In fact deaths attributed to genuine H1N1 flu cases are LOWER than epidemic levels. (see the CDC Fluview site).

People are going to the doc ‘cuz they are scared of what is in fact a mild flu — for which the doctor will prescribe “STAY HOME, force fluids, take pain relievers [NSAIDs) for aches and fever, get plenty of rest ... and also take this antibiotic to reduce the chance of secondary infection while you are sick with this virus.”

Go on with your life.

Just be aware that ***IF*** an H5N1 (not H1N1 like this one) develops an active human:human vector, then be afraid, be VERY afraid. But until then, go about your life as before.

What is NAC?

NAC (N-Acetyl-Cysteine)

Silvio De Flora, M.D., of the Institute of Hygiene and Preventive Medicine at the University of Genoa, Italy, enrolled 262 subjects in a randomized, double-blind study to determine how NAC affects the flu virus. Details of the study are as follows:

· Subjects were given either two placebos or two 600 mg NAC tablets daily for six months during the wintertime flu season.

· All of the participants kept a daily log of their health and symptoms, and were tested for flu antibodies.

· Since blood tests of those taking placebo and NAC showed similar titers of flu virus, the results indicate that NAC did not prevent infection with the influenza virus.

· However, of those who had detectable flu virus in their bloodstream, only 25 percent of those taking NAC developed flu symptoms.

· In contrast, of those who had detectable flu virus in their bloodstream, 79 percent of those taking the placebo developed flu symptoms.

· NAC treatment was well tolerated and resulted in a significant decrease in the frequency of influenza-like episodes, severity and length of time confined to bed.

Thus, the researchers concluded that supplementing with NAC significantly reduces the severity and likelihood of having flu symptoms. Due to its safety and support of the immune, lung and hepatic systems, supplementing with NAC appears to be a wise alternative to Western medicine for enjoying a healthier winter season.

Thanks. This is completely new to me, so I can only put it on my radar. I would be worried about side affects and have to wonder about its benefits, but I appreciate the tip so I can look into it further.

Thanks.

The map shows the sunbelt to be more affected than the northern climes.

So much for vitamin D!

It’s been used for 30 years, it’s just an amino acid that you also get from eating meat, it occurs naturally in the human body, google it, you’ll see ...

It’s heavily studied with real medical studies ..

Ya, but there all in doors hiding cause the AMA told them the sun would kill them, then they slather themselves with sun tan lotion when they go outside to make absolutely sure they get zero vitamin D. And you really don't have any idea who is getting it and who isn't. Frankly, I think there are much more unhealthy people in the south, poor diets, poor hygene, ect ... But ya, I see what you mean ...

I also notice the states with high illegal counts always break out in the flu first, that’s what 40 living per house hold will do ...

Speaking of supplements (which I tend to avoid in general) - about 6 weeks ago wifey and I started taking Glucosamine to maybe ease our boomer joints....and we both started farting to the point where I went and Googleized "Glucosamine + Flatulence"...

We were not alone - major side effect. Wifey's totally quit 'em and I've cut my dose in half.

In other words, is it such a big surprise that more people than usual are showing up with flu symptoms when the news alerts them to their iminent demise night after night?
