AIKEN, S.C. (AP) The South Carolina congressman who gained national attention for shouting "you lie" at President Obama during a speech to Congress will attend a Republican rally in Aiken.

The Aiken Standard reports the Saturday rally will be held at the Republican Party headquarters in Aiken. Some have called the event a fundraiser and a show of support for Wilson.

Aiken County Councilman Scott Singer called the rally awkward. He said he didn't want the rally to appear to support of Wilson's outburst.

Wilson's shout at the president came after Obama said that extending health care to all Americans who seek it would not mean insuring illegal immigrants. He apologized, calling the outburst a "lack of civility."

Joe is becoming a headliner for fund raising. How do you get Americans excited? You lead. You speak the truth. You defend the values and liberty that this nation is built on. It is not complicated.

YEP! And those who think they need to distance themselves from him are, or will be, the losers!

Love that guy! He spoke the truth and only apologized for his outburst.

The RINOs won’t like this. To them, Wilson is a racist who must be avoided.

That includes one Scott Singer noted in the article. He should be dumped if for no other reason than terminal stupidity.

Rhinos are an endangered species. They aren’t the Republican Party or conservative. They almost never take offense at the most offensive leftist diatribes yet get all wishy washy over a bit of unvarnished truth. Most I believe are moles that have a goal to dilute and disarm conservatives and Republicans.

You go, Joe!

A big lib wrote an op-ed about how horribly uncivilized Wilson’s comment was, but in reply, another writer pointed out that there have been much more egregious breaches of decorum in the hallowed halls of Congress. To wit, the attack of Charles Sumner by Preston Brooks:

It’s an interesting story that I sure don’t remember being taught in US History class.

RINOs and RATs better wake up and take note that We The People are coming. In 2010 and 2012 they will be sent packing in disgrace. That’s our promise to American traitors everywhere.

Rhinos are an endangered species. They aren’t the Republican Party or conservative.

You mean like the RINO's, aka "Country Club Republicans" that were content to be in the minority for 40+ years?

RINO's exist in large numbers in the Republican party, likely the majority, and far outnumber true Conservatives in the party. The whole point of the Tea Party movement is to move the gubmint back towards fiscal conservatism and away from RINO and Liberal DemocRat policies that are sinking a once great nation. Conservatives come out in droves to support Conservative ideals that are not being supported by RINO Republicans and certainly not supported by Marxist Democrats who currently hold the power. That's the whole point.

Joe Wilson has joined the rest of America in calling out the Marxist left wing liars for what they are.

It’s high time the “average Joe” started speaking out.

Joe the Plumber
Joe Wilson
Average Joe’s = Real Americans

I used to think they were just misguided and then I looked at their overall behavior. There is no better indicator to one’s allegiance than what they choose to take offense to and even more so what they do not take offense of.

Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC was so upset about this the other night. He was talking about Wilson being a big fundraising draw with such disdain in his voice, as if he thinks that Wilson planned it out this way. I wanted to yell at the screen and tell him that it was the Democrats who created the hero - if they’d have just left it alone, it would have been over the night of the SoTU speech. But NO, they had to make a big deal of it and declare Joe Wilson as public enemy number one.

The Dims desperately needed a distraction from their health care debacle. Wilson provided what they thought would be that distraction, but it didn't quite work out they way they'd planned. Look for more distractions in the near future....

You are wrong they are not the majority and have never been. Spend some time with rasmussen. Conservatves make up a clear majority in the GOP. All polling of Republicans show that the party is socially and fiscally conservative it is our leadership that doesn’t always get it.

Wrong? Really? You sure about that? I don't need to spend one second looking at anything Rasmussen has done. We had a poll in this country just last year. It was called an election. Who won the Republican nomination? The head cheese of RINO's. A man willing to bend over (the aisle) an adopt Socialism as fast as any Democrat. IOW, A RINO's RINO. None other than John Sidney McCain.

Now, I will grant you that the events of the past ten months has awakened many a sleeping Conservative, as if a Marxist thug from Chicago wasn't enough. Events of late have also brought out A LOT of voter's remorse, but the RINO's are still very well entrenched within the Republican party and are, by no means, defeated. Look at who Republicans within the party elected as Chairman, AFTER the election. Do you really think Michael Steele was the best choice? I don't.

If you believe that RINO's are on the ropes within the Republican Party you do so at your own peril. I can cite 50 years of recent history to prove my point. With the exception of the Class of '94 there is very, very little difference between the Republican Party of today and the Republican Party of 1970. Browse the history of the party and you will see that I am spot on in this assessment.....

Wilson has raised over $1.6M after his truthful statement to Obozo. But Singer doesn't want it to look like he has any support. Reality disconnect.

You are confusing issues. We ended up with McCain because of a combination of forces one of which early entry into the race of rhinos like Romney. It was clear that most republicans were not happy with their choices. Fred Thompson when he first entered the race was riding high and then the media lifted up huckabee and the Romney camp worked to cast him as lazy and uncommitted. It was the elite that left us with several bad choices. Just because they can manipulate things as witnessed with the election of Obama doesn’t mean they are a majority. It just
means money and an unlimited 24hr a day soap box via networks outsde of fox (which is only lukewarm conservative) gives the left an advantage.
Leftist social issues and fiscal policy are not popular. Don’t be fooled by circumstace. The problem conservatives have is lack of coordination not lack of numbers.

You write this speculative summation and you say I'm confusing the issues? Jeez. What you write here are your assumptions.

It was indeed clear that Republicans didn't much care for their choices. Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter were clearly the most conservative of the bunch. You can massage the outcome of the nomination all you want and blame the media, but it's clear that the conservative Republican candidates were cast aside for the biggest RINO in Congress by the party. McCain's history is well known. He wasn't a stranger to Republican voters. They all knew he supported amnesty, the campaign finance boondoggle and a host of other issues that should have made him unelectable if the Republican Party were indeed controlled by Conservatives.

The Republican Party has a long history of nominating "the next guy in line" and this time that happened to be McCain. Like the nomination of Bob Dole, nominating McCain was another stupid move in a long line of stupid moves by Republican Party elites if they were indeed interesting a majority. It is quite clear that the majority of Republicans in elected office are indeed RINO's and they are more than content to stay in the minority. All the perks with none of the responsibility. They don't fight like they want to win. Look at the weak opposition they have put up after being totally shut out of the health care legislation discussions. Do you really think Boener and McConnell are doing all they can do to oppose this nonsense? I don't. The very existence of this nation is at stake and those two are being whipped like a rented mule by a San Francisco hippie and a crooked Senate majority leader who likely won't even win re-election. There are so many tools at the Republicans disposal to destroy the DemocRats it's laughable, yet Boener and McConnell sit by and do nothing.

Leftist social issues and fiscal policy are not popular.

Correct. This is not a liberal country. However, those in power in the Republican Party are far more liberal than the country as a whole and that, in and of itself, is the problem. It hasn't changed simply because McCain lost and Obamalamadingdong won. I think it is quite possible that this might change come 2010, but I'm not all that optimistic at this point. Some Conservatives historically have a bad habit of sitting out elections based on pet issues.

Don’t be fooled by circumstace.

I'm not. I'm citing actual events of history, as opposed to theories. I look at outcomes and what I saw in 2008 was the Republican Party nominate the biggest RINO in American politics. I then watched that RINO go down to defeat mostly due to his own ineptitude. No matter how you massage it you cannot change the history of the Republican Party and the elites who maintain control of the party for the past 50 years.

Watch closely and you will see 95% of incumbent RINO Republicans get re-elected come November of 2010. Republican elites who control the Republican Party won't allow challenges to incumbents. You can bet on it. It's a sure thing because it's happened over and over for the past 50+ years. I'd like to say that a real change in the leadership of the party will occur, but history tends to repeat itself and this next election will be no different.
