Prayers most appreciated for my son who is dealing with swine flu. See comment below for more history.

Dear friends and prayer warriors, My son is in the PICU. We called 911 Sat.night as he became increasingly dyspneic with wheezing not going away. He was admitted to PICU, he is flu type A pos. which is 90% likelihood of swine flu. All our children except the one staying at college had the flu this past week. Our precious son was the last to succumb to it and as a result was put on Tamiflu last Tuesday. Our 14 yr old daughter who is no stranger to getting every bug that bites said that it was by far the worst sickness she has ever had. Our other children fared better than our daughter but all had a tough cough to contend with even after feeling better. I recently heard a sad stat that the majority of deaths from swine flu were in children with CP. Of course that is even sadder now that our son is in PICU with swine flu and Sun. night was put on BiPap. Our son has CP (cerebral palsy) and his respiratory system is overwhelmed right now with this virus. He was doing better Sun. during the day and then took a turn for the worse. Since being put on BiPAP his heart rate has come down to almost normal levels after being quite high, o2 is 100%, resp have gone from a high of 80 to the 30's (normal is 16-22). I have become use to my little man pulling through but I am not ignorant of the mountain he has to climb. The PICU doc said if he escapes this he will have dodged a bullet. I ultimately trust in the sovereignty of God. Your prayers are most appreciated for him and also for our family that we may trust God fully for whatever it is, that is His will.

A doctor here says that the thing to watch for is a stressed immune system that allows a secondary infection to slip in. She says this is more dangerous than the flu itself.

HEALING CONFESSION

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Living Word. You said that Your Word is Life to those who find it and medicine to all their flesh. Today, by my confession, I apply Your Word to my body by giving voice to it. You said in Psalm 139:14 that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and that Your works are marvelous. I declare that You made us and we are a marvelous creation.

I speak to sickness and disease today and proclaim that according to Philippians 2:10 that they must bow down to the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Every name in Heaven, on earth, and under the earth bows its knee to Jesus’ name.

I speak to my body today and declare that I have authority over it. I command it to receive the Word of God. Matthew 8:17 proclaims that Jesus bore our sickness and took our infirmities. Heavenly Father, I thank You that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in me and makes alive my mortal body.

I speak to my immune system and command it to line up with the Word of God. My immune system will destroy sickness and disease in my body and perform its job, for this is what You created it to do. I thank you, Father, that every cell in my body responds to Your Word. Your Word permeates my body from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet. I confess that the Word of God is being made flesh in me. Psalm 103:3 declares that You, Father, forgave all my iniquities and healed all my diseases. Father, that is Your confession and I make it my confession, also. I don’t judge by the sight of my eyes; I judge by Your Living Word. It is Your Word that lives in me and brings health and healing to every part of my body.

Heavenly Father, I rejoice at Your promise of divine health. You said it and I believe it. Today I declare that I will see Your Promise of healing manifest in my body. Healing is mine because Jesus paid the price two thousand years ago. God so loved me that He sent His Son to die on the cross so that I could experience life on God’s terms. His abundant life is manifesting in me. Make me whole ~ body, soul, and spirit. Amen …

That is so true. They also say keeping the viral lungs from turning into bacteria feeding grounds is paramount as well. The BiPAP is forcing o2 to the deep air sacs which also decreases the chance of bacteria growing in stagnant air sacs/lung tissue. He is receiving incredible care with dignity and integrity thrown in for good measure.

I too just got over IlI (influenza like illness) they stopped testing for H1N1...so I know the ups and downs of thinking your getting better and at night a new symptom comes on fast. I was out for about 7 days, meaning unable to get energy and control coughing and thick, thick discharge from my nose. It is an awful flu for some and not so bad for others...that is the danger...most people think...”What’s all the hipe, its just a flu” but when it hits the wrong person it can be bad....people all around me felt better within 2 days...i did not. So dont anyone take this lightly...someone in your family could be affected worse than you....

My prayers are for a complete recovery for your son and that he will be well soon. May I suggest another 4 days of rest after he feels well. Rest and fluids, hugs and lots of funny movies....God’s love always in abundance!

Intravenous Relenza saves swine flu woman

LONDON, Sept 4 (Reuters) - British doctors have saved the life of a woman with severe swine flu after giving her an unlicensed intravenous form of GlaxoSmithKline’s (GSK.L) drug Relenza, they reported on Friday.

Relenza, or zanamivir, is currently only approved as an inhaled medicine. This version, however, did not work in the 22-year-old patient, whose immune system was impaired due to recent chemotherapy.

She also did not respond to Roche’s (ROG.VX) Tamiflu, or oseltamivir, which is given as a pill.

Doctors at University College London therefore decided to try intravenous Relenza in combination with high-dose corticosteroids and her condition improved within 48 hours.

“Although this is a single case report and direct cause and effect cannot be confirmed, the improvement in clinical status following intravenous Relenza encourages prompt further investigation,” Michael Kidd and Mervyn Singer reported.

The new H1N1 swine flu was declared a pandemic in June and has been spreading globally since then.

Other flu drugs are under development to deal with seasonal and pandemic influenza. One that has shown promise in intravenous form is BioCryst Pharmaceuticals’s (BCRX.O) experimental product peramivir. (Reporting by Ben Hirschler; Editing by David Holmes)
