Associated Press ^ | September 21, 2009

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The first game at the Cowboys Stadium set an NFL regular-season attendance record with a crowd of 105,121 on Sunday night.

The game between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys broke the previous mark of 103,467 between Arizona-San Francisco in Mexico City in 2005.

The crowd included up to 30,000 fans in standing-room party plazas at either end of the stadium. The stadium has about 75,000 seats.

The record for an NFL game in the United States was 103,985 for the Super Bowl between Steelers and Rams at the Rose Bowl in January 1980. The largest crowd to watch any NFL game was 112,376 in a preseason matchup between the Cowboys and Houston Oilers in Mexico City in 1994.

There was also a crowd of 105,840 in Chicago for an exhibition between the Bears and a college all-star team in 1947.

Too bad they have no secondary. And their linebackers don’t know how to tackle.

It’s just a shame they couldn’t actually, you know, win.

LOL wasn't that the best part? (I say that as a lifelong Redskins fan.

And their linebackers don’t know how to tackle.

I'm amazed at how much shoulder-tackling is attempted these days. Everyone is going for the muscled slam-down heroics, and instead the runner just rips away with a spin... sheesh, we were warned against that in high school!

Well, to be fair, they kind of had their training facility collapse on top of the team in the off season, injuring several people.

Ever been to Texas Motor Speedway?

Largest Sports Venue in the world outside of Indianapolis and it sits in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

New NFL attendance mark doesn’t surprise me the least.

I don’t like the Cowboys, but Texans love their sports.

There is only one person who is to blame for this defeat! Romo’s three interceptions.

A fool and his money...

He may be a fool, but he built himself a monument that will outlive him: at least for awhile.

It’s a good thing they left a big hole in the middle of roof to let out the stink.

I hope they can sell out the 75,000 seats that count next time. Maybe they already have?

Romo did stink. So did the defense though.

The new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Tx, is a three million square foot structure that is three times the size of the team's old home, Texas Stadium

Interesting. That was the first football game I remember seeing. Was 7 years old and my dad was watching it on TV.

The tax payers of Arlington should be proud of their giving half a billion dollars to the billionaire Jerry Jones.

How far does it go? How about $29 to stand OUTSIDE the stadium to watch the game on the TV? I can’t believe people sometimes...though I should.
