9-11: The Desecration

Add another Obama insult to injury on 9-11. First, he desecrated the memory of 9-11 with his planned proclamation of his mandatory civilian service on 9-11, which he has designated a "National Day of Service." And now 9-11 has yet another title: State Department personnel are supposed to pray with Muslims on the newly declared "Interfaith Day of Service," whatever that means on 9-11.

September 11, which should be a somber day of mourning and reflection (on how the hell we got here), will be a day when Obama -- in a celebratory mode -- makes his big announcement. The whole thing is depraved. And yes, it really is mandatory. The Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act - the GIVE Act - calls for a commission to study "whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed."

Obama means to erase the meaning of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks from the American psyche and convert September 11 into a day of leftist self-congratulation, the advance of government power, and Muslim pandering.

I have no problem with mandatory service. What I do have a problem with is the service that will be required by this Marxist president.

I have to disagree with you on the mandatory service issue as I do have a problem with the idea. I can understand why there was compulsory service during most of our wars and for most of the cold war for military defense. This service thing can have a way of backfiring because of whom is at the top and I just don't mean der Leader. Voluntarism and community service should come from the heart, not at the point of a bayonet or worse as a “reward” for doing the right thing. On its surface it is benign but if you get past a cursory look, you will see it is another of the class warfare issues: gee, we can get Mr. welloff to sweep the streets for a year with this and that will look great to the multitudes.

You more or less expanded on the point I made. I joined the service in 1971 when there was a draft. It was understood, at that time, if your family had money, influence, or both you would not have to serve. It was the system that was broken not the requirement of service.

We may disagree, but I still see nothing wrong with mandatory service. With today's Volunteer Service, which is working out great and my son is a member of, we have a portion of the population supporting our country and a portion who could not care less.

I look at it like government housing. If it is free to the occupants, it is not taken care of. I have seen new government housing units become cesspools within months because the occupants are not shareholders and have nothing invested in it.

Freedom and citizenship should not be free. Without a personal investment both can and will be taken for granted.

I believe he understands perfectly well. He gets off on it, being the America-hater that he is. He knows he pisses off millions when he does this crap. He's been doing it for 8+ months now in a variety of ways. This globalist puppet wants to start a war here, and is trying to prod the masses into one every which way he can. I can see him starting a war, then jetting off to Indonesia once it starts: Mission Accomplished.

Everything this man does is designed to further divide the already huge rift in this nation. It's the one thing he's really good at.
