Washington, DC --(AmmoLand.com)- Data released by the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) reported 1,074,757 checks in August 2009, a 12.3 percent increase from the 956,872 reported in August 2008.

So far that is roughly 9,076,205 gun bought this year! The total is probably more as NICS background checks may cover the purchase of more than one gun at a time.

I have owned personal guns since I was about seven and have had a CCL for years, always shot expert in the army and I know that I can buy guns on the internet and I know about having to do the transfer.

I was just asking to see which way the guys thought was the best way to go now days, I know that I buy my knives and flashlights on line now.

One question I have is registration, while guns a person has owned for many decades might not be registered, is it best to make sure that your CCL guns are registered since you carry them around constantly and you also want to be sure and get them back if used?

Don’t buy that PLASTIC crap gun! Check out the Bersa CC (compast Carry) .380. An amazingly well-machined, accurate, fully METAL gun for less money than the KelTec.

I have owned and been shooting a Glock 17 for almost a quarter century, is it too plastic?

All my carry guns were bought from an FFL and thus are registered.

...I should also point out that my one assumption was not being able to purchase guns online, and technically, I was right.

All of the pistols on my FR home page were bought brand new from internet dealers.

Only personal preferences, I suppose. Glocks are great guns, can take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’ but I like METAL guns myself, my favorite being CZs. When I was shopping for my .380, I looked at the KelTEc and test fired it. For a “mouse gun” it had horrible recoil, lousy balance and a five mile trigger pull. Accuracy seemed a little too “hit and miss” for my tastes. However, the Bersa fit my hand like a glove, shot smooth as silk and damned well hit anything I pointed it at, for $50 less than the Keltec.

The KelTec, Ruger LCP are good for women that want something small, light, don’t want a revolver and they can conceal easily. It’s better than nothing. We have the Ruger LCP, I’ve shot it, it’s not pleasant. It’s not a fun gun to shoot at the range, that’s for sure, but it’s small size makes them incredibly popular and 380 ammo is next to impossible to find because so many women are getting those little things.

Get the Ruger LCP. I like it much better than the Kel TEC. It’s fine for a small easy to carry, not fun to shoot at the range unless you are a woman with small hands, even then, 50 rounds and most are over it. I don’t think it’s as snappy as the S&W airweight revolvers. I really can’t stand those things.

I’m going to start reading up on this new Kahr P380, first impression is that it is very high quality, but shockingly expensive.

Please reconsider buying the Kel-tec P-3AT. Go to a range where you can rent the gun and fire a box before buying. I suspect that after one magazine your hand will be so sore that you don’t make it through the entire box. I didn’t care for it.

Yup. It's amazing how so many are totally clueless in choosing a claiber without doing the research.

And yes, I have a .380... and a half dozen 9s, a .40 and two .45s.

Regardless of what the guvmint says, there will be existing paperwork identifying each purchaser. And it is my strong belief that they WILL be coming for our guns in the future. A sale between individuals is legal almost everywhere. None of my two concealed carry pistols can be connected to my name.

Obama’s stimulus is working. He has single-handedly jump-started the firearms economy.

The next bubble. Guns and ammo.

I cannot believe how expensive .380 is. Those little guns are getting REALLY expensive to feed. 9mm is still pretty affordable.

Think again on the Kahr. I did lots of homework on them and talked to multiple dealers about the reliability. Cost is not a issue when your life depends on it. Most dealers I know said they get lots of them coming in for repairs/malfunctions.

If you’re set on a semi-auto, check out H&K. Fine weapons and I have not had one problem. Accurate and dependable. A bit larger than I’d like, but am willing to carry a few extra ounces to know that my H&K Compact9 will function 100% when called upon. Also will handle +P+ ammo for that extra bang.

Just my opinion.

I also bought a Ruger LCP (Light Carry Pistol) about a week ago and put 30 rounds through it so far in a standing position 10 yards from the target. Very accurate and easy to shoot with no malfunctions.

I need to target practice while moving to see if this old man can hit the target. I wouldn’t want to be stationary in a close range gun fight.

I’ve added a AR-15, S&W M&P 357sig and the Ruger LCP since Obozo duped the nation.
