Meg Whitman: Van Jones Is ‘Doing a Marvelous Job’
The Washington Independent ^ | September 3, 2009 | David Weigel

Posted on 09/04/2009 10:35:37 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

A mysterious YouTube member named, conveniently, “megwhitmanonvanjones,” has uploaded a May 2009 San Francisco Chronicle video of 2010 GOP California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman, in which the former CEO of eBay and former adviser to Mitt Romney and John McCain gushes about suddenly controversial green jobs czar Van Jones.

"There’s a guy over in Oakland, I think his name is Van Jones. And he and I were on a cruise last summer in the Arctic, on climate change. And I got to know him very well. And a lot of the work he’s doing to enfranchise broader communities I’m a big fan of. He’s doing a marvelous job… I’m a huge fan of his. He is very bright, very articulate, very passionate. I think he is exactly right."

(VIDEO AT LINK)

The political problem here? Whitman is a wealthy Republican trying to win the GOP gubernatorial nomination from conservative candidates Steve Poizner and Tom Campbell, both with stronger ties to the party’s base. And here she is, on video, proclaiming her friendship for the current Emmanuel Goldstein of the conservative movement.

If she's nominated (or Heaven forbid) elected, we'll finally know the California GOP is just a branch of the Democratic Party.

Exactly right for what?? What happened on her trip to see the big snow cone aboard a ship?

Climate change is a scam.

If a CEO of a billion dollar company fell for it, she’s likely to wire money to Nigerian banking scammers too.

Another absolute RINO. The fact she was on a cruise with this guy about Climate Change says all I need to know.

Look at Obama's inner circle throughout his life...and the picture is clear, including regarding just exaclty who Whitman is cozying up to.

Van Jones = Frank Davis = Bill Ayers = Bernardine Dohrn = Jeremiah Wright = Tony Rezko = Rashid Khalidi = Raila Ordinga = Carol Browner = Rahm Emanuel = John Holdren = Eric Holder = Ezekiel Emanuel = BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA

This is who the man, Obama, is. A cauldron of corruption, greed, marxism and communism...with disturbing ties to radical Islam.

...he is also now the President of the United States of America, and he is going about, with a will, and very methodically destroying the free market and fundamental republican principle within our nation.

The Enemy Within.

We need to purge our Party of these people once and for all. They had their chance with John McCain, and were rejected big time - but their egos are so inflated they can’t just crawl away and shut up, but have to act like they’re still meaningful in any way.

Whitman? Romney? McCain? Huckabee? TAKE A HIKE, YOU LOSERS.

The only person I want to be reminded of from the last election is Sarah Palin.

She thinks the guy is doing a great job on global warming.

If you were looking for a replacement for Swartzenegger, she isn’t it. We’ve got to keep looking. I’d say, at minimum, a would-be Repub candidate ought to be able to say out loud that Van Jones is a lunatic.

This could be a pretty good litmus test. Any Repub anywhere, just ask him. Would you characterize Van Jones as a lunatic? If he hems and haws, if he waffles, just strike him from your list. If he can answer clearly, “yes, and that ain’t the half of it...” then please ping me, freepmail me, I’ll go to work for the campaign and we’ll get this guy elected.

Meg Whitman Blasts Van Jones
“My husband and I met him and many others on a cruise sponsored by National Geographic and The Aspen Institute. He talked about supporting job growth in California, but of course I did not do a background check of his past over dinner. As these reports have surfaced, it’s clear that he holds views that I entirely reject; any suggestion otherwise is ridiculous.” --Meg Whitman

I wouldn't expect her to, and you can't hold someone responsible for making a kind remark about someone they barely met.

My point is her focus on global warming. She isn't a bad person for taking Jones at his word, she is a bad Republican (and a bit of a dim bulb) if she falls for "climate change" as an issue.

I have a certain fondness for the opiates. It’s related to chronic pain and IBD. But thank G-d, I have no addiction to them and can easily refuse a pill or a a shot. Even when in pain. If I need the clear head I’ll not take the pill even when in pain.

I mention that because the whole Death Care thing is so damn similar — it’s so easy to convince a person and it it is obvious that too many of thousands — even those of strong moral character — have been convinced to commit a sweetened form of suicide under the clouding yet euphoric influence of the morphines.

I know from my own direct experiences with such conmen and such drugs that the mental/emotional state conducive to accepting such deadly drugging is EXACTLY the same as the mental state that gives an intelligent person over to a charming con.

I am also able to spot a con quickly — and it’s not because I turn off to their charming pitches, in fact I open up to them — it’s just that G-d has gifted me the ability to switch immediately out of that mode to a much harder and judgmental mode. I’m like the snake that kills the charmer.

Methinks based on the hatred of Gov. Palin and conservatives,
that McCain, Romney and Whitman are tied at the hips.

"A political party cannot be all things to all people.
It must represent certain fundamental beliefs
which must not be compromised to political expediency
or simply to swell its numbers."

--  President Ronald Reagan

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party
over to the traitors in the battle just ended.
We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged
to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support.
Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates
wouldn’t make any sense at all.""

--  President Ronald Reagan

There was an episode in the Bullwinkle Moose TV series that had Boris Badinov releasing something called “goof gas” into the United States. Everyone became instantly stupid except for Bullwinkle, who had built up an immunity after decades of being stupid.

What I’d like to know is, who released goof gas into the Republican convention last year? I don’t know anything about Meg Whitman, except that I’m certain that she was at that convention. McCain had a natural immunity.

From all the evidence, I conclude she knew nothing about him except as he presented himself, and as others on the cruise presented him.

Too bad she didn’t do any homework before accepting everything at face value. Too bad she blabbed her praise to the world.

I agree with whoever said the bigger problem for her (even than Van Jones) is her susceptibility to the Climate Change hoax.

On either count she looks foolish and ill-informed like her friend McCain.

Their type is always mis-defining the issue...the challenge of our time...to be bipartisanship or just getting something passed etc. when that isn’t it AT ALL.

Right now she thinks learning of his background and repudiating him makes it all hunky dory.

Still clueless.

Doesnt surprise me. Jones strikes me as a chameleon, capable of bamboozling people by putting on whatever face suits the moment.

When she met him, he probably presented himself as a great admirer of eBay and other entrepreneurial pursuits. She probably has no clue as to the real Van Jones. Of course you can argue that she should. When she finds out the whole story, I expect she will no longer be a fan.

My attitude about Whitman: I just dont see how she could be worse than Ahnald.

A rather poetic way of looking at it. I too spent my life in chronic pain, for ten years until my degenerative spinal disc just completely crumbled. I also refused the pain meds to keep a clear head. I wanted to finish my work, in the medical field.

I know the mindset that can't refuse a con. They are the young, the gullible, the weak and the poor. I truly hate politicians/crooks that prey on these people. They are the lowest form of human on the planet.
