Mark Steyn and the "Duke of Chappaquiddick"
Citizen5408 ^ | September 2, 2009 | Mark Steyn

In case you missed it, Mark Steyn delivered a brilliant monologue at the beginning of the second hour of the Rush Limbaugh Show today (he was subbing while Rush is on vacation). The essence of which was that the leftist (and mainstream media) arguments that Teddy Kennedy's sins should be forgiven because he did so much for the common man was, essentially, a monarchical argument with no place in American society. Mark Steyn is amazing. His writing is fantastic but he can also translate it as a talk show host. He is hilarious.

Steyn is my sub of choice for Rush.
Although Walter Williams is a close second.

I have to respectfully disagree. I love his writings, but he has an odd spoken delivery that just drives me nuts.

I agree...him and The Great One, I can not listen to them but they write great stuff...I am not sure what it is about Styne, he grates on me when he talks, but I can’t think of anyone I like to read more than he...and come to think of it, Victor Davis Hanson - VDH - is another guy that does that to me...

Well you might be find yourself in the minority, I think he is a fantastic conversationalist. Especially in talking to liberal callers.

Like so many other Freepers, I'm a big fan of Mark Steyn's writing. I like his radio and TV work but he is an acquired taste, of sorts. I find his humor can get tiring because it's often too obscure for my taste.

Mark Steyn's bit about Teddy Kennedy and the 'American monarchy' was excellent. I think he makes a good guest host for Rush Limbaugh. Maybe not the best in every way but darn good - and worth listening to.

Disagree,

Steyn’s accent and speaking style are delightful. I rarely get to hear Rush, but I had today off.

I cannot imagine what it is that disturbs you about Steyn. When he spoke to that woman today about the “cultural differences” b/n Canada & the USA concerning the availability of MRIs(??) I was ready to howl.

The way that Steyn speaks is very cool, IMO.

I guess we all have our own opinions on this...still, regardless of whether you like his delivery, the content is great! I loved his snide remarks about Fat Teddy, the Duke of Chappaquidick, today.

“...but he is an acquired taste...’

I have to say when I first started listening to Rush replacements (I usually switched to Dave Ramsey’s show), I really didn’t like Mark. But, the more I have listened to him, I have to say, he is pretty good.

I really like the way he lets liberal callers run head first into a wall and then points it out to them. Of course, they ALWAYS come up with more excuses (into another wall) and he again dissects their stupidity. Today with the lady at the end of the show, he just let her keep hitting the wall and slammed her! It was very entertaining and enlightening, because she NEVER saw the stupidity of her ways! He explained in very, slow, plain language that we currently have OPTIONS, once the government gets involved, we LOOSE options (even if it is called a “Government Option”). You say tomato, I say socialistic, power-grabbing SOB!

The liberal left is very SAD!! And very SCARY too! I mean, how do you go through life this blind? This loyal to something like Democrap ideology, but question everything that God says and does?
