Victim Cried, Begged 'Don't Kill Me' in Brutal Mother-Son Gang Rape
AP/Fox News ^ | August 26 | Staff

Police say the defendants lured the woman, then 35, out of her apartment just a few miles from downtown West Palm Beach by claiming her truck had a flat tire. Three masked gunmen then forced her and her son, then 12, back inside. Others soon joined in the attack.

Lawson continued testifying Wednesday, describing the chaotic scene inside the woman's home, with attackers coming and going, raping the woman over and over, sodomizing her, beating the boy and forcing the mother to perform oral sex on her son.

Police say Lawson and the other defendants were among as many as 10 teenagers who attacked the woman and boy, and later doused the victims with cleaning solutions, nail polish remover and vinegar to clean the crime scene.

I tried searching for this on FR, then searching for non-wire stories, but had trouble. Probably one of the worst crimes I have heard of.

Probably one of the worst crimes I have heard of.

I've never heard of it either - which means the attackers were members of a "protected dem victim group"... If it had been white men doing this to a black woman and son - it would be on every news channel - and in every newspaper. (Just my guess - I could be wrong)

"The victims had fled poverty in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, years earlier. With no money, they landed in the Dunbar Village housing project, where they almost instantly became targets for crime, standing out among the mostly American-born black residents."

Welcome to America...

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Stephen Hatfield escorts Avian Lawson into the courtroom to testify in West Palm Beach, Fla., Aug. 25, 2009. The teen defendant admitted Tuesday that when he was a 14-year-old middle schooler he participated in a gang rape of a mother and helped beat the woman's 12-year-old son in a horrific assault in which the two victims were forced to perform sex acts on each other. We've really become too soft. We don't want to hurt any innocent people. We want to be fair. We want to be kind. We want to be compassionate.

That's why a great many Americans live in fearful conditions, with the inmates running the asylum.

If we were tougher, we would make a few mistakes, but the vast majority of Americans would end up living in safe and sane environments. The Left likes to speaks of the Greatest Good for the Greatest Number. Somehow that means that having 95% of the population cowering in fear of the feral population is now the Greatest Good.

Public hangings do send a message, whether the liberals like to admit it or not. That message is: don't do what this person did or you may end up like him. The public part makes sure the message really sinks in. And if it does not sink in, well, there is always the need for examples.

An interesting aspect of this story is this is actually a hate crime: African American (Black) verses Haitian.

The woman and her son are Haitian immigrants, the Africa American youths are your typical illiterate, gang bangers, hip hop neighborhood homies.

The police think as many as ten youth were involved in this crime

This is so sad. When the Hatians come to America, they are very hard working, usually religious, good people. Most of them feel very grateful to be here, and act that way. Unfortunately, many of the youth eventually turn to crime, as they are educated into the "thug life".

This crime, as described, makes me sick. I can't even put words to it at this time. Freakin animals...

That is a very understandable wish.

But even when ol’ Sparky was up and running you could not execute for rape/kidnapping/torture and the like unless the victims died.

Too bad.

Not one of them showed mercy to the 35-year-old mother. They repeatedly violated her - vaginally, anally and orally - as she begged them to stop. She testified that each attacker who broke into her home sodomized her with an assault rifle. “Every time one is finished, the other one take his place, have sex with me in my behind,” she said in her Creole accent. “They keep calling me bitch. All of them were laughing. Some of them have sex with me three times. I was almost passed out. I couldn’t breathe. I tell them, please. When they’re having sex with me, they were holding my head, pulling my hair.”

Meanwhile, some of the assailants were across the hall beating her 12-year-old as he cried and begged for his life. Once they were through having their twisted version of fun with his mother, they forced her to have oral sex with him.

Their crimes were unspeakable. The punishment should fit them.

Robert Gershman, who represented Nathan Walker, asked the jurors to ignore morality, ignore the “hysteria” and ignore emotion. “No matter how morally reprehensible you believe the situation was, that plays no role. Who would stay, who would not report, who in their right mind would be there ... should not be in your decision. The immorality of it cannot sweep you away to a guilty verdict times 14.”

The jury chose not to ignore the evidence. Not to ignore the victim. Not to ignore the testimony of Lawson, whose version of events coincided with the victim’s. Both juries - Poindexter and Walker each had one - chose not to ignore the truth.

Still, the victim testified that 10 men assaulted her. Lawson identified six: Poindexter, Walker, Jakaris Taylor, Melvin Young, Augustus Fontaine and himself. Taylor goes on trial next month. Why haven’t West Palm Beach police arrested Young and Fontaine? Law enforcement officials say only that it’s an ongoing investigation. It had better be. For those who were there on June 18, 2007, with Poindexter, Walker and Lawson, the truth still awaits. And all of those who were there should face it.
