The government 'Death Book': Bureaucrats investigate what life is 'not worth living'
THE WASHINGTON TIMES ^ | Wednesday, August 26, 2009 | House editorial

The Obama administration claims that a health care takeover by government won't restrict access to care. Everybody will get more care for less money, the president has said. Of course, something has to give. One likely target for rationing will be care in the later stages of life. Bureaucratic disregard for the value of all life is insinuated in a government manual known as "the Death Book."

The Death Book is a nickname given to an advice manual published by the Department of Veterans Affairs that instructs veterans "how to prepare a personalized living will." Officially titled, "Your Life, Your Choices," the book fosters dark thoughts about a difficult life somehow being less of a life.

Yes Wee-Wee Can't!

The White House has finally admitted that its original 10-year deficit projection was off by merely two trillion bucks -- revising it from a rosy, sunny, optimistic $7,100,000,000,000.00 to a reassuring $9,050,000,000,000.00, which more than doubles the national debt by FY 2019, making it three-quarters the size of the whole economy. On the bright side, the economy is expected to shrink, but 'only' by 2.8 percent this year.

In response, the Obama administration appoints a prosecutor to go after the CIA.

Ever the deep-thinker, Obama convinced himself that by ridiculously going after CIA interrogators -- in pursuit of liberals' highest-valued target, Dick Cheney -- that everyone would suddenly forget how ObambiCare has bombed and forget the success of the Tea Party protests and forget that he's spending the nation into debt for all eternity. You know what this means? Obama's still on crack.

Ushering in a new era of fiscal responsibility, Obama says the deficit this year will ring in at $1.58 trillion (11.2% of GDP), then -- for the next 10 years -- he wants America to keep running the highest deficits since World War II, just under $1 trillion per year, putting the nation's finances back in order by racking up another $30,000 per U.S. citizen in cumulative deficits. Obama's Treasury will be auctioning off $8 trillion in securities this year, around $2.5 trillion higher than last year, when Bush and ol' Darth were running 'the worst recession since the Great Depression.'

"I know some will say this report proves we can't afford health reform. I think that analysis has it backwards," said Obama's Peter Orszag, member of the brilliant White House team that brilliantly tripled the deficit this year, predicting unemployment would top out at 8 percent because their useless stimulus bill would stimulate the economy into shrinking by 'only' 1.2 percent, less than half the rate they now admit it's going to shrink (2.8%).

On a roll, Orszag insists that the only way to control their runaway spending is to add another $1 trillion of runaway spending to install their socialist health-care debacle. To understand the flawless logic behind this, keep in mind this is the same nut who says the economy and the deficit would be even worse were it not for wasting $787 billion in the failed stimulus.

And just in case you doubt the stimulus is working miraculously, the government announced yesterday that stimulus checks mistakenly stimulated 1,700 prison inmates across the country -- including two-dozen jailbirds in Massachusetts -- in a "relatively small" $425,000 bureaucratic 'glitch', caused by government records not "accurately reflect[ing] that they were in prison," explains Social Security spokesman Dan Moraski in a written statement (Fox News, 8/25). Each convict got a $250 check. (Out of force of habit, the AP called it a stunning success.)

A total of 3,900 criminals got stimulus checks but Moraski says that's OK because 2,200 of them were not in prison between November and January. Government screws up even giving money away, but you can trust these data-processing champs to run your health-care, with direct access to your financial accounts and medical records. 1,700 Kidneys Mistakenly Sent To Liver Transplant Patients, Federal Agency Now Admits

And while Obama's bureaucrats are busy mailing checks to rapists and murderers on the DNC's absentee voter list, an overflow crowd of around "3,000 New Yorkers flooded the Queens headquarters of Local 1 Plumbers Union [Monday] for a chance at 150 plumber's-apprentice slots opening over the next two years" -- a sign Obama's powerful recovery "is still in the toilet," (New York Post, 8/25). Turnout was so huge "that only 1,000 of the would-be plumber's helpers even had a chance to register for the lottery to select the lucky 150 apprentices."

But, to calmly reassure Americans worried their country is being led by a left-wing nutcase, Fidel Castro endorsed Obama's domestic agenda yesterday. Again. Perhaps positioning himself to run as a Democrat for Congress, Castro said he's 'astonished' that Obama's polls have collapsed, accusing his opponents of being "racists" for opposing Obama's lunatic environmental agenda and his attempt to socialize medicine and raise taxes to really get the economy going. He wrote that Obama, who endorses Castro's domestic agenda, "has inherited those problems from Bush. I don't harbor the least doubt that the racist right will do everything to wear him down, blocking his agenda to take him out of the game one way or another." But, not to worry, don't get all wee-wee'd up. With backing like that of Fidel's, Obama can't lose!

Congressman Peter King told Politico yesterday that, given the Obama-Holder "declaration of war" on the CIA, "you wonder which side they're on." Castro's re-re-re-re-endorsement of Obama's agenda answers that question.

Anyway, that's...
My Two Cents...

Anyone old enough (besides me) to remember General Douglas MacArthur's speech at West Point in May 1962?

Well the Obama Administration has a question about that speech.

"What did that old guy say? Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.. duty, honor, country? Yeah well, we're in charge now. Old soldiers never seem to die; they just get in the way."
