Henry Louis Gates Jr. said Sgt. Crowley looked "so relieved" when he shook his hand, and the two were able to find humor in the media frenzy unleashed by his arrest.

Gates said he and Crowley discussed meeting again privately -- either going to lunch or taking in a Boston Red Sox or Celtics game -- or having their two families go out to dinner together.

"I offered to get his kids into Harvard if he doesn't arrest me again," he said, drawing loud laughter from the audience.

And while I might agree with the president’s initial statement that the “Cambridge Police Department acted stupidly,” my father is not the first nor will he be the last black man to be arrested for no reason—in his own home or elsewhere—and Sergeant Crowley isn’t the first officer to fudge a police report. They are simply pawns in the rebirth of unfashionable intolerance in a world that likes to think our dashing brown-skinned 44th president has emerged to make nice with the past, present, and future.

Our Ivy League schools are no longer what they used to be. At some point, in the NEAR future, we won't have the foreigners clamoring to get into our schools. They're building up their own Universities. Even the Chinese LAUGHED at our economic policies at their Universities. They're running away from communism and running TO capitalism.

Gates, it’s not going to work — although forgiveness and forgetfulness is needed here. We KNOW someone really put the screws to you behind the scenes. It’s obvious. A full-fledged apology is needed. Now. Say, “I’m sorry, I was wrong to overreact like that.” And, say it in front of television cameras from every major network. Then, Crowley needs to step up AFTER that takes place and accept your apology. The same apology should come from Barak Obama.
